Prerequisites

Certification must be completed before creating a Baidu Cloud Compute instance. Please perform "Enterprise Certification" or "Personal Certification" based on your situation. For details, please refer to Personal Certification and Enterprise Certification. If you have not completed real-name authentication when creating a cloud server instance, click the Authentication prompt button on the page to complete the process on the real-name authentication page.
Creating postpay Baidu Cloud Compute instances requires your account balance to be ≥ RMB 100. For specific billing methods, Please refer to Product Pricing.

Operation process

Operation steps

Sign in to the Baidu AI Cloud official website and enter the management console.
Select "Product Services >> Compute >> Baidu Cloud Compute (BCC)" and click Create Instance on the instance list page.
Proceed with Basic Configuration selection.

ConfigMap	Required/Optional	Configuration
Region	Required	Cloud products in different regions cannot communicate via internal networks. Selecting the region closest to your application reduces access latency. After creation, Change Region is not supported.
Availability zone	Required	An availability zone (AZ) is a physical area within the same region that has independent power and network infrastructure, ensuring fault isolation within a single AZ. If you need to purchase multiple Baidu Cloud Computes, it is recommended to select different availability zones for disaster recovery purposes.
Bill type	Required	Prepay: It requires upfront payment for the selected duration, offering lower rates compared to postpay mode. Postpay: It charges based on actual instance usage, which requires no upfront payment but demands the account balance of ≥ RMB 100. This mode is priced higher than prepaid modes. Spot instance: A new operation mode where you bid within a specified range. When the market price of the designated specification is lower than your bid and resource inventory is sufficient, spot instances can be successfully created and be charged at the current market price.
Instance configuration	Required	Based on different CPU-to-memory ratios, Baidu Cloud Compute offers various types of instance family. For specifications and applicable scenarios, refer to Specification.
EHC of elastic high-performance computing cluster	Required	Instances within the same EHC cluster can communicate via the RDMA network, while those in different EHC clusters are isolated from each other. The default cluster parameters for the availability zone are pre-filled.
Image types and OS	Required	You can select the appropriate image type and OS based on actual needs. Public image: Provided officially by Baidu AI Cloud, containing only the basic OS environment. Custom image: The image generated via the Create Custom Image function includes the base OS, applications, and personalized configuration of the system disk. Custom images help you quickly create Baidu Cloud Compute with personalized configuration. Service integration image: An image based on a basic OS that integrates common services and application software environments. It is provided by Baidu or third-party service providers and published after review by Baidu AI Cloud. Service integration images help you quickly create cloud servers that include control panels, PHP, and other common runtime environments. Shared image: It supports sharing custom images with other users. Shared users can query the images shared with others via the management console or API. Shared users can utilize images shared by others to create instances and reinstall OS. Market image: Image environment provided by third-party service providers, and then reviewed and published in the cloud market by Baidu AI Cloud. It includes rich service operating environment and application software, assisting you in responding to various solution scenarios quickly (postpay image is not supported at present).
Host security (enterprise version)	Optional	Basic host security is provided by default, with optional enterprise-level host security to provide enhanced safety protection for Baidu Cloud Compute. For host security details, please refer to Host Security HOSTEYE
System disk	Required	Used for OS installation. Non-heterogeneous computing instances with Linux as the image OS and default size of 20 GB; if the image OS is Windows, it is 40 GB by default; heterogeneous computing instances are 40 GB by default regardless of OS. Optional cloud disk types vary by region and specifications, subject to the types actually displayed on the page.
Data disk	Optional	It refers to the mounted data disk, used to increase the storage capacity of Baidu Cloud Compute and unselected by default. There is an upper limit to the count of cloud disk servers that can be mounted. If you wish to mount cloud disk servers beyond this limit, submit a ticket to contact us. Currently, both the system disk and data disk of Baidu Cloud Compute are Cloud Disk Servers (CDS). For details on the disk type and usage limitations of CDS, please refer to Disk Type and Usage Limitations.
Shared disk	Optional	It supports selecting an existing file system or clicking Create New File System to proceed with creation. Up to 5 shared disks can be set for the file system. To request more, please submit a ticket to contact for adding.
Snapshot strategy	Optional	Snapshot strategy binding is disabled by default. Through snapshot, you can realize disk data backup, disk data recovery and disk image creation. For more snapshot usage and limitations, please see Snapshot Usage Instructions. Snapshot is currently a paid service. Please refer to Snapshot Charge.

Proceed with Network and Bandwidth configuration selection.

Network type	Required	If you have not created a virtual private cloud, you may select the default private network. Currently, the virtual private cloud (VPC), subnet, security group, ACL, and route table of Baidu AI Cloud are free. For more details, please refer to Virtual Private Cloud (VPC).
Security group	Required	If no security group is created, you can choose to use the default security group.
Elastic resources	Optional	For public network access, please purchase an EIP or bind an existing EIP after successful instance purchase. Public network bandwidth supports the following purchasing methods: Prepay billing: The bandwidth fee for the selected period should be paid in advance and will be included in the instance payment when subscription-based Baidu Cloud Compute is purchased. Postpay traffic billing: Billed based on actual data transfer volume with no usage cap, but the maximum peak bandwidth can be limited. Pay by bandwidth usage: Billed based on the fixed bandwidth value selected by users, with a maximum purchasable bandwidth of 200 Mbps.

Proceed with the selection of Purchase Information.

Purchase count	Required	Select the desired number of instances to purchase, with the default set to 1.
Purchase period (prepay)	Required	Choose a subscription duration of 1-9 months or 1-3 years. The usage period begins from the instance creation date. For instance, if you purchase a cloud server for one month on May 20, 2024, the subscription will last from May 20, 2024, to June 20, 2024.
Auto-renewal (prepay)	Optional	By default, the auto-renewal option is disabled. If enabled, the instance will automatically renew, with the renewal period matching the original order's duration.
Auto-release (postpay)	Optional	By default, it is unchecked, meaning no auto-release. When checked, the instance will be automatically released at the specified time. For details, refer to Scheduled Release.

Tag	Optional	When you have multiple Baidu Cloud Compute instances, you can achieve classified resource management by setting tags of Baidu Cloud Compute. For specific settings, refer to the Tag function.
Resource group	Optional	Resource group enables categorization of cloud resources by different dimensions. You may select an existing resource group or go to the console to create a resource group. For details, refer to Resource Group.
Deployment group	Optional	When creating Baidu Cloud Compute instances in a designated deployment group, they are distributed across physical servers with other Baidu Cloud Compute instances in the same deployment group, to ensure high availability of service during hardware failures. For specific settings, refer to Deployment Group. A maximum of 2 deployment groups can be added into an instance.
System information	Optional	Instance name: You may customize the instance name or let the system generate a random instance name. Hostname: You may customize the hostname or let the system generate one randomly. Description of custom naming policy: Use the naming format "Prefix [begin_number,digits] Suffix" to consistently set instance names or hostnames for multiple cloud server instances. For example, if the instance name is configured as test-[2,3]-bcc and three instances are created, the first Baidu Cloud Compute instance name would be test-002-bcc, the second would be test-003-bcc, and the third would be test-004-bcc. The name prefix is mandatory, while the name suffix is optional. [begin_number,digits]: Specifies the starting number value in the instance name or hostname, which increases sequentially and serves as the differentiating element for instance names or hostnames across multiple cloud server instances. No spaces are allowed in the [begin_number,digits] field. begin_number: Specifies the starting number of the instance name, with supported values range of [0,999999] and a default value of 0. digits: Indicates the number of digits reserved for numbers in the instance name, with a supported value range of [1,6] and a default value of 6. If the name is configured as [] or [,], the begin_number defaults to 0, and digits defaults to 6. If the name is configured as [99] or [99,], the begin_number defaults to 99, and digits defaults to 6. If the specified begin_number for the name exceeds the digits value, the digits default to 6. If the sum of the specified begin_number and the count of newly created cloud server instances exceeds the maximum value of 999,999, all cloud server instances exceeding this limit will default to 999,999. Sequential suffix: If enabled by the user, sequential suffixes increment from 0001, with a maximum of 9999. For example: InstanceName0001, InstanceName0002 and HostName0001, HostName0002. Domain switch: When enabled by the user, the hostname will include a domain suffix, supporting DNS resolution. Administrator user name: The administrator account for Windows system is Administrator, while for Linux system, it is root. Administrator password: The available password setting methods vary depending on the OS of instance. Custom: Set a custom password for instance login. Randomly generated: After successful purchase, sign in to the console to reset the password. Refer to Reset Password. Key pairs: Linux OS can use key pairs to connect to Baidu Cloud Compute. SSH key pairs provide more secure login than conventional passwords. For details, refer to Key Pair settings. Instance release protection: Instance release protection is turned off by default. Instances with enabled instance release protection cannot be manually released. Enabling release protection does not affect scheduled releases, releases due to debt payments or releases due to instance expiration.
Advanced configuration	Optional	User data injection: Scripts entered here will be executed as instance customization scripts during startup, enabling automatic instance configuration, such as obtaining and installing software resource packages, enabling services, log printing, initializing service environment, etc. Both Linux and Windows instances support data injection function: Linux instances support the use of User-Data scripts. As shown in the following example, after instance creation is successful, the message "Welcome to Baidu AI Cloud" can be viewed in the /root/test file. Example: #!/bin/sh echo "Welcome to Baidu AI Cloud." \| tee /root/test Windows instances support batch scripts (first line must be rem cmd), powerShell (first line must be #ps1), and bash scripts. As shown in this example, two new directories (cmd_create01 and cmd_create02) can be seen in the C drive after instance creation. Example: rem cmd mkdir "C:\\cmd_create01" mkdir "C:\\cmd_create02"

After clicking Confirm Purchase, check the configuration details and cost breakdown on the Order Confirmation page, then click Submit Order to complete the instance purchase.

Note: If you hold Baidu AI Cloud coupons, you may use them to offset costs. If the coupon coverage is insufficient, the remaining balance can be paid via a bank card, or the full amount can be settled by card.
Navigate to the Instance List of Management Console to view instance status.
- During creation, the instance status is Creating.
- After successful creation, the instance status will display as Running.
Upon successful instance creation, the system will send Baidu Cloud Compute details (including IP and username) via SMS. For security reasons, passwords will no longer be sent via SMS. If you forget the password configured during instance creation, you may choose Reset Password.

FAQs

What should I do if I cannot find a Baidu Cloud Computer instance in the console?

If you are unable to locate the relevant instance in the console interface, it is recommended to navigate to the instance page in the console, click the region switch in the top-left corner, and verify whether your server exists in another region.

What should I do if I forget the server password?

The default administrator for Linux OS is root, and for Windows OS is administrator. If you forget the password, you may select Reset Password. For details, refer to [Reset Password](BCC/Operation guide/Instance/Reset password.md).

Note: Execution of password reset will force instance reboot. It is suggested to execute reset during off-peak hours.
