BCC instances

BCC instances serve as virtual servers housing key computing resources like CPU and memory. They act as the operational entities within Baidu Cloud Compute and are a core concept. Services such as IP address binding, images, snapshots, Cloud Disk Server (CDS), and Simple Cache Service (SCS) only work when attached to a BCC instance.

EBC instances

The EBC instance represents the 3rd-generation Baidu Taihang Elastic Baremetal Compute. It incorporates smart NICs for storage offloading and can facilitate instance creation within minutes, providing users with dedicated physical machines for enhanced isolation, security, and performance.

Image

An image provides the operating system and pre-installed software for a BCC instance. Baidu AI Cloud offers various public images for selection. Alternatively, you can create a custom image from a specific moment of your BCC system disk, viewable only by you. These custom images can also be shared with other accounts.

Disk

Disks provide storage solutions for Baidu Cloud Compute, functioning as system disks or expandable data disks for instances. They offer low-latency, persistent, highly reliable, and scalable block storage.

Region

Region refers to the physical location of BCC instances. Baidu AI Cloud currently supports multiple regions. You can choose cloud server services in different regions based on your customer distribution. Refer to Region Selection Guide.

Note: BCC instances within the same region can communicate via private networks, while BCC instances across different regions cannot. Pricing varies slightly across regions due to differing physical resource acquisition costs.

Security Group

A security group functions as a virtual firewall for controlling network access to instances, offering packet filtering and stateful inspection capabilities. BCC instances can choose between default or custom security groups.

• The default security group permits both inbound and outbound access.
• Custom security groups allow you to define rules for both incoming and outgoing traffic.

Snapshot

A snapshot represents a backup of your selected data at a specific moment in time.

• The primary purposes of snapshots are data backup and recovery. In case of application failures or file corruption, snapshots enable quick restoration of data to a specific point in time.
• Snapshots also serve as an alternative method for accessing data. While original data is being used for applications, users can access snapshot data or use it for testing purposes.
