Instance Overview
Instance introduction
An instance is a cloud server that includes basic computing components such as CPU, memory, OS, network and disk. The Baidu Cloud Compute (BCC) supports user-defined configurations for CPU, memory, OS, etc., and supports online configuration upgrades. It supports attaching two types of disks: the temporary data disk and the Cloud Disk Server (CDS).
Instance specification introduction
Baidu Cloud Compute (BCC) offers various instance families tailored for different application scenarios. Within the same family, specifications are classified based on CPU-to-memory ratios. Choose a specification type that meets your application needs.
For specific information on instance families, please refer to Instance Specifications. If you need to change the configuration of a purchased instance due to application requirements, please refer to [Instance Configuration Change](BCC/Operation guide/Instance/Change Instance Configuration.md).
Instance image introduction
An image includes the operating system and pre-installed software for a BCC instance. Baidu AI Cloud provides a variety of public images to choose from when creating a BCC instance. You can also create custom images based on a specific moment of a system disk, visible only to you.
The images provided by Baidu AI Cloud include the following types:
- Public images: Officially provided by Baidu AI Cloud, these images are genuine, licensed, secure, and stable. They include Windows Server system images and major Linux system images, all free of charge.
- Custom images: These are created by you, either from existing instances or snapshots, or by importing locally created images. Imported images must meet specific requirements for OS version, image format, and more.
- Shared Image: An image shared by other users, which is solely used for creating instances.
- Service Integration Image: An image based on a basic OS that integrates commonly used services and application software environments. It is provided by Baidu or third-party service providers and is published after review by Baidu AI Cloud. Service integration images allow you to quickly create cloud servers with control panels, PHP, and other standard runtime environments.
- Market Images: Images offered by third-party service providers, which are reviewed and published in the cloud market by Baidu AI Cloud. These images come with comprehensive service operating environments and application software to help you efficiently handle various application scenarios.
For more image introductions, please refer to [Image Overview](BCC/Operation guide/Image/Image Overview.md).
Instance storage introduction
Instance storage is divided into system disks and data disks:
System disk: Store OS and core configurations, similar to the C drive in a Windows system.
Data disk: Save your data, similar to the D drive in a Windows system, and support expansion, attaching and detaching.
For more storage introductions, please refer to [Storage Overview](BCC/Operation guide/Storage/Overview.md).
Common operations
- If you have not yet created a Baidu Cloud Compute (BCC) instance, please refer to [Create Instance](BCC/Operation guide/Instance/Create instance/Create Instance Navigation.md).
- If you did not set a password or forgot the password when creating an instance, please refer to [Reset Password](BCC/Operation guide/Instance/Reset password.md).
- If you need to change the configuration of the current instance, please refer to [Instance Configuration Change](BCC/Operation guide/Instance/Change Instance Configuration.md).
