A cluster extension component built on the open-source Velero, offering capabilities for resource backup and recovery.

Component function

Provides backup and recovery for applications (resource YAMLs) within the cluster via Velero, securely storing backup data in a specified Baidu AI Cloud Object Storage (BOS) bucket.

Application scenarios

  • Backup and recovery: Quickly restore services using backup data when K8S resources under a cluster or namespace are accidentally deleted.
  • Service migration: Facilitates the rapid transfer of backed-up services from a source cluster to a target cluster. (Not supported temporarily; stay tuned for updates.)
  • Service compliance: Collaborates with security teams to regularly retrieve backup data for audit purposes.

Limitations

  • Supports only Kubernetes clusters of version 1.20 or higher.
  • When backing up an application, any resources being deleted will not be included in the backup.

Install component

  1. Sign in to the Baidu AI Cloud official website and enter the management console.
  2. Select Product Services - Cloud Native - Cloud Container Engine (CCE) to enter the CCE management console.
  3. Click Cluster Management - Cluster List in the left navigation bar.
  4. Click on the target cluster name in the Cluster List page to navigate to the cluster management page.
  5. On the Cluster Management page, click O&M & Management > Component Management.
  6. In the component management list, select the CCE Backup Controller component and click Install
  7. Click the OK button to complete the component installation.

Instructions for use

Please use this component along with the CCE backup center.

  1. Sign in to the Cloud Container Engine Console and create a backup repository. For details, please refer to [Backup Repository](CCE/Operation guide/Backup Center/Backup repository.md).
  2. Create a backup or a scheduled backup policy in the source cluster to back up specified resource objects. For details, please refer to [Backup Management](CCE/Operation guide/Backup Center/Backup Management.md).
  3. Create a recovery task in the target cluster based on the backup data to restore specified resource objects. For details, please refer to [Recovery Management](CCE/Operation guide/Backup Center/Restore Management.md)
