Backup Overview
The backup center of Container Service CCE offers a comprehensive solution for the backup, recovery, and migration of containerized applications. It currently supports backing up and restoring resource objects in CCE standard clusters. This document introduces the operational principles, billing details, usage scenarios, and processes of the backup center.
Operating principle
The backup center achieves backup and recovery of cluster applications (resource YAMLs) using Velero, securely storing the backup data in a specified Baidu AI Cloud Object Storage (BOS) bucket.
Charge
The backup center service itself is free; however, when used, it integrates with Baidu AI Cloud Object Storage (BOS), for which storage fees will apply.
Note: Backed-up cluster resources (i.e., related YAMLs) will be stored in the BOS bucket. For BOS-related billing, please refer to Charging Overview.
Application scenarios
- Backup and recovery: If K8S resources in a cluster or namespace are accidentally deleted, services can be quickly restored using backup data.
- Service migration: Data from a backed-up source cluster can be swiftly transferred to a target cluster.
- Service compliance: Coordinate with security teams for regular retrieval of backup data to support service audits.
Usage process
- Sign in to the cloud container engine console and create a backup repository. For details, please refer to [Backup Repository](CCE/Operation guide/Backup Center/Backup repository.md).
- Create a backup or a scheduled backup policy in the source cluster to back up specified resource objects. For details, please refer to [Backup Management](CCE/Operation guide/Backup Center/Backup Management.md).
- Create a recovery task in the target cluster based on the backup data to restore specified resource objects. For details, please refer to [Recovery Management](CCE/Operation guide/Backup Center/Restore Management.md)
