Product overview
This document provides an introduction to the product overview, core advantages, pricing, and a comparison with standard CCE clusters of Baidu AI Cloud's CCE Serverless Kubernetes clusters. It aims to help you quickly understand and use Serverless Kubernetes clusters.
Product introduction
The CCE Serverless Kubernetes cluster is a serverless version of the Kubernetes cluster introduced by Cloud Container Engine (CCE). With this solution, you can deploy containerized applications without the need to purchase nodes, perform node maintenance, or perform capacity planning during use. The CCE Serverless Kubernetes cluster offers full compatibility with Kubernetes and reduces the complexity of cluster management and operations, allowing you to focus on managing applications within the cluster.
Pods in the Serverless Kubernetes cluster are based on [Baidu AI Cloud Container Instance BCI](BCI/Product Description/What is BCI?.md) to provide serverless container resources. You only need to provide container images and configuration parameters required to start containers to run the containers, and do not need to worry about how these containers are scheduled and deployed to underlying physical server resources. The BCI service will complete the scheduling and operation of IaaS layer resources for you, simplifying your container usage process and reducing deployment and maintenance costs. Meanwhile, BCI only charges for the resources you apply for when creating containers, thus realizing true pay-as-you-go billing.
Core advantages
- Simple and user-friendly: Effortlessly create Serverless clusters with minimal barriers and deploy container applications within seconds. No need to manage Kubernetes nodes or servers—focus solely on service applications.
- Rapid scaling: Eliminate concerns about cluster node capacity planning. Flexibly and efficiently scale resources according to application workloads.
- Secure isolation: Pods are created based on BCI, ensuring that application Pods are isolated from one another to prevent interference.
- Cost-efficient: Applications are deployed on demand with a pay-as-you-go model; no charges are incurred when not in use, eliminating idle resource costs and reducing operational and maintenance expenses with Serverless.
- Native compatibility: Fully supports native Kubernetes applications and ecosystems, including services, Helm, and more, allowing seamless migration of Kubernetes-based applications.
- Service integration: Enables seamless integration of container applications with Baidu AI Cloud's core services; supports direct interaction with existing applications and databases in VPC; facilitates interconnection between container and virtual machine applications.
Product pricing
Each Serverless Kubernetes cluster uses two BCI Pods as cluster masters. Both cluster masters and user Pods are subject to pay-as-you-go based on BCI. For details, please refer to BCI Billing Instructions
For the pricing of resources like BLB and EIP within the cluster, please refer to the pricing guidelines of the corresponding cloud products.
