Overview

You can create RDS instances through RDS management console or API. This article introduces how to create an RDS for MySQL instance through console.

Description:

• version of the read-only instance, consistent with that of the dual-computer HA master instance by default. Currently MySQL versions 5.6, 5.7 and 8.0 are supported.

Preconditions

• Baidu AI cloud account has been registered. For specific operations, please refer to Register Baidu AI Cloud Account.
• For post-paid services, the service fees will be deducted from the account balance according to the usage, so please ensure that your account has sufficient fund.

Create master instance

Description: You can create master instances of stand-alone basic version, dual-computer HA version, Raft financial version. The creation of stand-alone basic version is same as that of dual-computer HA version. The following steps are for the creation of “dual-computer HA version” instance.

1. LoginCloud Database RDS Console.
2. At the upper left corner of RDS console, select the Zone where you want to create the database instance.
3. On the "RDS List of Cloud Database" page, click the button Create Instance. On the instance creation page, configure the following parameters.

parameters	description
billing method	prepaid: That is, pay on a yearly basis or monthly basis, fees should be paid when creating an instance. This method is suitable for stable and long-term needs for business, providing more affordable price than the method paying by volume, and the longer the duration purchased is, the more discounts it will provide. postpaid: it is a method paying by volume, that is, the service fees will be deducted by hour on the hour in Beijing time with corresponding bills generated. This method is suitable for short-term needs, under which, the instance can be released immediately after use, with less cost.
region	the region where the instance is located, that is, the geographical location where the instance is located. You can also switch it at the upper left corner of the page. it cannot be replaced after purchase. please be cautious when you select. the BCC of the cloud server and the RDS intranet between different areas are not interoperable. we advise you to create the RDS instance in the same geographical area as the BCC instance that needs to be connected.
available zone	available zonerepresent a computer room with relatively isolated physical resources, which can help users establish a highly available architecture. Details can be found inavailable zone description. Rules for selecting available zone: single available zone（A, B, C……）: That is, create the master instance in the same available zone; multiple available zone（A+B, A+C, B+C……）: It contains 2 (or more) available zones. Create the master and standby nodes of the master instance in different areas of the multi-available zone when creating. selectdefault allocation，and the system will automatically allocate it to an available zone according to the current resource situation; When a single available zone is selected, RDS default active and standby nodes are created in the available zone. When multiple available zones are selected, the active and standby nodes will be distributed in different available zones.
database type和version	for database engine type and version, select MySQL. Description: the database types supported by different regions are different, which is subject to the actual interface.
specification	optional specifications are current available zone resources: Small and micro type: light and flexible, price favorable; standard type: general specifications, high cost performance; memory enhanced type: high memory configuration, suitable for large data reading and writing; CPU enhanced type: high CPU configuration, suitable for concurrent reading and writing of high logic operation; Explain: each specification has a corresponding number of CPU cores, memory, maximum local disk and maximum number of connections. For details, please refer to specification list.
storage space	this storage space includes data space, system file space, binlog file space and transaction file space. Local SSD disk: the data is stored in the local SSD disk, which has low delay, good IO and throughput capacity, and is suitable for medium and large relational database services; High performance cloud disk: Cost-effective, suitable for most high IO usage scenarios, such as small and medium-sized databases and core business test and development environments General SSD cloud disk: distributed elastic block storage service with low latency and high reliability can realize the separation of computing and storage. Data is stored in the available zone in a redundant way with multiple copies, thus avoiding the risk of single point failure of data. If you have high requirements for data reliability, it is recommended that you choose a general SSD cloud disk. cloud disk of previous generation: suitable for large capacity, low IO load and low cost scenarios;
network type	Cloud database RDS supports general network and private network (VPC for short). The VPC network should be created in advance, or you can change the network type after creating an instance.
purchase information	purchase duration(prepaid): Select the required time, and the system will automatically calculate the corresponding configuration cost. The longer the time, the greater the discount is. automatic renewal（prepaid）: Not checked by default, automatic renewal will not be performed. After checking, the instance will be automatically renewed at the renewal period same with the original order period. Purchase quantity： number of instances of the same configuration purchased.

4. Confirm configuration

   After confirming the configuration information, click Next to enter the payment page, where you can see the package and price of the selected instance for confirmation.

5. Confirm the order

   After confirmation, click the Go to Payment button in the lower right corner to jump into the "Payment" page, and the order is completed after confirmation of payment.

6. Payment succeeded

   You can select "View Order Details" to query the order, or select "Management Console" to enter "RDS- Instance List of Cloud Database". The RDS instance of cloud database will be created in the background, which takes about 5-10 minutes. After successful creation, you will receive the message that the RDS instance of cloud database was successfully created.

7. View instances

   After successful purchase, go back to the page "Cloud Database RDS- Instance List", then you can see the created RDS instance of cloud database, as well as the instance location, status, database type and expiration time information.

8. View instance details

   In the instance list, click the instance name to enter the instance details page, and the Basic Information navigation page displays the instance running status, configuration and other information; you can manage instances by selecting other tabs.

Create Raft financial version master instance

Description

• If you need to use Raft Financial version, please submit a Work Order to apply for opening white list before use.

1. Login RDS Consol.

2. Select theFinancial Zone where you want to create the database instance at the upper left corner of RDS console, Taking Wuhan Financial Zone as an example, click on the navigation bar of Financial raft instance navigation bar to enter into the instance list page.

   

3. After entering the instance list, click the Create Instance button. Select the billing mode on the instance creation page, fill in and select the instance related information, then click Purchase Now.

   Description: “For parameters configuration information table, refer to Create Master Instance for details.

4. Confirm configuration

   After confirming the configuration information, click Next to enter the payment page, where you can see the package and price of the selected instance for confirmation.

5. Payment succeeded

   You can select View Order Details to query the order, or select "Management Console" to enter "RDS- Instance List of Cloud Database". The RDS instance of cloud database will be created in the background, which takes about 5-10 minutes. After successful creation, you will receive the message that the RDS instance of cloud database was successfully created.

6. View instances

   After successful purchase, return to the page "Cloud Database RDS- Instance List", and you can see the created RDS instance of cloud database, as well as the instance location, status, database type and expiration time information.

7. View instance details

   In the instance list, click the instance name to enter the instance details page, and the "basic information" tab displays the instance running status, configuration and other information; You can manage instances by selecting other tabs.

FAQs

• Why the created instance in the instance list cannot be seen after it is created?

  Answer: It might be the reason that your region is inconsistent with the region you chose when you created the instance.You can switch regions in the upper left corner of the page and check whether there is your RDS server in other areas. If not, it is recommended that you submit a Work Order to ddescribe your problem in detail, and provide specific instance ID, and our engineers will troubleshoot the problem for you.
