          Set Instance Parameters

          Overview

RDS supports parameter management at instance level. You can view and modify the values of opened parameters on the console or using API, and query the parameter modification history.

At present, more than 70 modifiable parameters are supported, and each parameter has a corresponding parameter description, so that you can quickly understand the meaning of the parameter. In addition, combined with Baidu DBA's years of operation and maintenance experience, "Best Practices" and "Precautions" descriptions of corresponding parameters are added.

          Use instructions

          1. Modifiable parameters: You can set the values of parameters in different ways according to the range of modifiable parameter values.

The detailed descriptions are as follows:

          • Integer parameters (interger): modify the value of parameters through the input box.
          • String type parameters (string): Modify the value of parameters through the drop-down list.
          • Set type parameter (set): modify the value of parameters through the check box.
          1. Restart effective parameters: If the result of "Need to restart" in the modifiable parameter list is "Yes", it means that the instance needs to be restarted after the modification of the current parameter, after that the modified parameter value can take effect.
          • Modifiable parameters with no need to restart: it will take effect immediately after the modification is completed. To cancel the modification, click "Restore" to reset the parameter values.
          • Modifiable parameters that need to restart: After modification, restart the instance, and the parameter value will take effect after the completion; To cancel the modification, click "Restore" to reset the parameter values.
          1. Cluster parameters: This parameter can be set under both master instances and read-only instances. If you have modified this parameter in the master instance, the read-only instance will follow the synchronization setting, and there is no need to manually set the clustering parameters of the read-only instance.
          1. The modifiable parameters of different versions are different, and the details are subject to the "modifiable parameters" of the console.

          Operation Guide

          Modify parameters

          1. Login RDS Admin Console.
          2. At the upper left corner of the console page, select the Region where the instance is located, and enter the "RDS Instance List" page.
          3. Find the target instance, click the Instance Name to enter into the instance details page.
          4. Click the Parameter Management in the left navigation, the tab "modifiable parameters" will appear.
          5. On the modifiable parameters page, editing, batch editing, applying parameter templates and saving as parameter templates are supported.
          6. Select the parameter to be modified, and click Edit to set the parameter value; after successful setting, click OK to complete the parameter modification.

          Description:

          If this parameter is a non-restart parameter, it will take effect immediately after successful setting;

If this parameter is a restart parameter, it will take effect after restart.

          Batch modification of parameters

          1. On the "modifiable parameters" page, select the parameters to be modified in batch.
          1. Click "modify parameters in batch" to set the above parameters in batch. After setting, click OK. If the parameter value is not set for your parameters, you cannot save this batch modification.

          Apply parameter template

          1. On the modifiable parameters page, click "Apply parameter template" and select a parameter template you need.
          1. Select a template you need to apply from the parameter templates.
          1. After selecting the template, you can see the current parameter values of the instance and the changes after applying the template. Click "OK" to complete the application of the template.

          Save as parameter template

          1. On the modifiable parameters page, click "Save as parameter template" to generate a parameter template with the parameters of current instance.
          1. Set relevant information for the template generated with the parameters of the current instance.
          1. After completion, this template will be displayed in the list of parameter templates.
