Compared to the ordinary PostgresSQL, the RDS for PostgreSQL is subject to the following usage limits, as detailed below:
Action | RDS for PostgreSQL Usage Limits |
---|---|
Database Management | Database management via console is not supported at present. After creating an administrator account on the account management page, the user may manage the database account and database via the client and by use of administrator account. |
Restart the RDS for PostgreSQL instance | The user must restart instance via the RDS for PostgreSQL management console. |
Modify database parameters | Not supported for now |
Database root privilege | The RDS for PostgreSQL is unable to provide the user with "superuser" privilege, but the privilege may be temporarily applied for by ticket. |
Database backup | Only support data backup via "pg_dump". |
Data Import | Presently, the RDS for PostgreSQL only supports backups generated by "pg_dump" via "psql" import. |
Create database replica | The system automatically creates an HA model for replication based on PostgreSQL stream without the need for manual creation by users. PostgreSQL Standby node is invisible to users, so it cannot be directly used for access. |
