Overview

You can change the billing mode of an instance according to your business needs. This document describes the change in the billing mode of an instance from prepaid to postpaid.

Considerations

• For the prepaid instance in auto renewal mode, you cannot change the billing method.
• If the running status of an instance is Expired, Rebooting, or Migrating, you cannot change the billing mode of the instance from postpaid to prepaid.
• Users need to ensure sufficient balance (balance >100) when changing the billing mode from prepaid to postpaid, thus avoiding the failure to check the balance when the setting takes effect.

From Prepaid to Postpaid

There are two methods for changing the billing mode from prepaid to postpaid.

Method 1: Change the billing mode on the instance list page

1. Log in to RDS Management Console.
2. In the upper left corner of the console page, select the Region where the instance resides to enter the "Baidu AI Cloud Database RDS Instance List" page.
3. Find the target instance, select the box before the Instance Name, or select Multiple instances for the batch change in the billing mode.
4. Click Change Instance/Cancel button to enter the billing mode change page and change the instance billing mode.
5. Confirm the order, click Next, and pay the bill according to the prompts.

6. After changing the billing mode from prepaid to postpaid is successful, you can view and manage the billing mode on the "Cloud Database RDS-Instance List" page.

   By clicking to refresh list in the upper right corner of the Instance List, you can see that the instance status displayed is Running. The “Payment Method” displayed should be Prepaid (To be changed). The postpaid mode of an instance should take effect after the Prepaid Mode Expires. Also, you can Cancel Billing Mode Change before the expiration date. The “Payment Mode” displayed should be Postpaid after the Expiration.

Method II: Change the billing mode on the instance details page

1. Log in to RDS Management Console
2. In the upper left corner of the console page, select the Region where the instance resides to enter the "Baidu AI Cloud Database RDS List" page.
3. Find the target instance and click to enter the Instance Details page.
4. In the Payment Information, click the Change Billing Mode button to enter the billing change page and change the instance billing mode.
5. Confirm the order, click Next, and follow the prompts to pay the bill.

6. After changing the billing mode from prepaid to postpaid is successful, you can view and manage the billing mode on the "Cloud Database RDS List" page.

   By by clicking to refresh the list in the upper right corner of the Instance List, you can see that the instance status displayed is Running after the change from postpaid to prepaid is complete . The “Payment Method” displayed is Prepaid (To be changed). The postpaid mode of an instance should take effect after the Prepaid Mode Expires. Also, you can Cancel Billing Mode Change before the expiration date. The “Payment Method” displayed should be Postpaid after the Expiration Date.

Cancel Billing Mode Change

After the change from Prepaid to Postpaid is complete, you can cancel the billing mode change before the expiration date of the prepaid duration and continue to use the prepaid mode.

There are two methods for canceling the billing mode change.

Method 1: Change the billing mode on the instance list page

1. Log in to RDS Management Console.
2. In the upper left corner of the console page, select the Region where the instance resides to enter the "Baidu AI Cloud Database RDS List" page.
3. Find a target instance, select the checkbox before the Instance Name, or select Multiple instances to cancel the billing mode change in batch.
4. Click the Change Instance/Cancel button and click OK in the pop-up dialog box to cancel the billing mode change.
5. You can see a message that shows The billing mode change has been canceled.

6. After the billing mode change is successful, you can view and manage the billing mode on the "Cloud Database RDS List" page.

   By clicking to refresh the list in the upper right corner of the Instance List, you can see that the instance status displayed is Running after the change from the postpaid to prepaid is complete. The “Payment Mode” displayed is Prepaid.

Method II: Change the billing mode on the instance details page

1. Log in to RDS Management Console.
2. In the upper left corner of the console page, select the Region where the instance resides to enter the "Baidu AI Cloud Database RDS List" page.
3. Click the Target Instance Name to enter the Instance Details page.
4. Click the Cancel Billing Mode Change button in the Payment Information and click OK in the pop-up dialog box to cancel the billing mode change.
5. You can see a message that shows The billing mode change has been canceled.

6. After the billing mode change is successful, you can view and manage the billing mode on the "Cloud Database RDS List" page.

   By clicking to refresh list in the upper right corner of the Instance List, you can see that the instance status displayed is Running. The “Payment Mode” displayed is Prepaid.
