          FAQs About Security

          How to resolve the loss of account password in the RDS instance?

          If the account password in the RDS instance is lost, you may update the password via the "Modify Password" feature in the RDS account management.

          How to resolve the loss of data in the RDS instance?

          The RDS provides robust data security for your database, ridding you of worries about data loss resulting from the RDS system crash. If the data loss results from incorrect action or data deletion by mistake, you may realize the point-to-point data recovery by backing up the instance and "binlog".

          How to recover the data that is deleted by mistake in the RDS?

          There are three data recovery ways:

          • Recover the specified time data via "Clone Instance" feature;
          • On the "Backup" tab of the instance, find corresponding time data, and click "Recovery";
          • On the "Log" tab of the instance, download the "binlog", find the "drop table" execution time, parse "binlog" into SQL statement, and then get through the action anew to recover a single table.

          May the RDS database create or delete database account via SQL statement or client tool?

          You can create or delete a database account using a "super" account and via SQL statement or client tool. Also, you may complete the actions via the RDS management console.

          What is the password of the account by default after the application for the RDS instance?

          No account by default is provided. You need to apply for the account on the RDS console ->account management.

          Does the RDS database account have root privilege?

          The RDS does not provide a "root" account for now, but you can create a "super" account on the console. For detailed account privilege, see Manage High-privilege Account.

          May the data be recovered after database RDS is released at term?

          The instance is released after 7 days from its expiration, and relevant backups are reserved for another 15 days, during which, if you need to recover the data, you may submit the database/relational database RDS ticket, on which you should exhaustively describe your problems and provide the instance ID. Then, our back-end engineers help you recover the data.

          15 days later, all backups are thoroughly deleted, and cannot be recovered in any way. If the prepaid RDS instance is not due, but the backups are past due, the backups service is ceased immediately. During cessation of service, console actions like backups downloading and recovery are subject to restrictions, and those backup files beyond the complimentary storage capacity are cleared after 21 days from the expiration.

          Will the RDS disk of the cloud database give an alarm automatically when full?

          The alarm strategy should be set by yourself, alarm will be given only when the alarm strategy you set is triggered, please refer to Set Alarm Rules .
