Noun Interpretation
Domain name
Domain Name, the name of a computer or computer group on the Internet composed of a series of dot-separated names, is used to identify the electronic location of the computer during data transmission (sometimes it also referred to as geographical location, geographic domain name, a local region with administrative autonomy). A domain name is an IP address with a "mask" on it. The purpose of a domain name is to facilitate the memorization and communication of a set of server addresses (website, email, FTP, etc).
CNAME domain name
After Baidu AI Cloud CDN accesses the accelerated domain name, the system assigns a "CNAME domain name " to the corresponding domain name. The accelerated domain name is used to complete the CNAME configuration at the domain name service provider to point to the CNAME domain name. After the configuration takes effect, the work of domain name resolution will be officially transferred to Baidu AI Cloud, and all requests for this domain name will be transferred to the Baidu AI Cloud CDN node.
CNAME record
Namely: Alias records in domain name resolution. It is used to resolve a domain name to another domain name, and then another domain name provides an IP address. CNAME records allow you to map multiple names to the same server. For example, you have a server named as “host.mydomain.com” (A record), and you want to use it to provide WWW and MAIL services at the same time. Then, your DNS resolution provider set two aliases (CNAME) for the server: WWW and MAIL direct the full name, namely “www.mydomain.com” and “mail.mydomain.com”, of these two aliases to “host.mydomain.com”. After CNAME is added, all requests to access the two CNAMEs will be redirected to host.example.com.
DNS
Domain Name System, a distributed database on the Internet that maps domain names and IP addresses to each other, enables users to more easily access the Internet without having to remember IP strings that can be read directly by machines. The process of obtaining the IP address corresponding to a host name from a host name is called domain name resolution (or host name resolution).
Edge node
It is a network node used by Baidu AI Cloud CDN to cache the contents of client origin servers, to respond quickly to user requests in different regions. The edge node refers to the network node close to the user in the network structure, and it has better responsiveness and connection speed to access users than the origin server. The CDN edge node caches the content frequently accessed on the edge node’s server to improve the speed and quality of the network terminal users’ access to website content.
Static content
It refers to that the data accessed in different requests is the same when a user accesses a resource for multiple times. E.g.: html, css and js files, pictures, videos, software installation packages, apk files, compressed package files, etc.
Dynamic content
It means user accesses a certain resource multiple times, and the data returned in the response are different. E.g.: API interface, .jsp, .asp, .php, .perl and .cgi files, etc.
Back-to-source HOST
Origin domain name, the domain name of the site accessed at the origin server when the CDN node is forwarded to origin. For details, please see Origin Configuration. When there are different stations in the origin server, CDN determines the station for getting resources based on your HOST header domain names.
Origin server
The origin server refers to the web server where user runs the business, and it is the source of accelerated data delivery of the CDN. The origin server of Baidu AI Cloud CDN can select the self-existing origin server or the Baidu object storage (BOS).
