Product Introduction

Baidu AI Cloud Layer 2 gateway (LAYER TWO GATEWAY, LTGW) is an enhanced networking service based on virtual private cloud (VPC), providing large Layer 2 capabilities. Its underlying overlay connects to dedicated lines or VPNs, thereby enabling enterprise users to migrate host instances while retaining private IP addresses in their IDC. This significantly accelerates cloud migration and satisfies hybrid cloud networking demands for elasticity and disaster recovery.

Core concepts

The Layer 2 gateway product consists of Layer 2 gateway instances and Layer 2 connection tunnels.

• Layer 2 gateway instance

  The Layer 2 gateway instance, recently launched by Baidu AI Cloud, is a network instance supporting Layer 3 connections with user IDC. It uses a primary-backup mode with two cloud hosts to ensure high availability.

• Layer 2 connection tunnel

  The Layer 2 connection tunnel, also recently launched by Baidu AI Cloud, is a network instance designed to establish tunnels with user IDC-side VXLAN (Virtual eXtensible Local Area Network).
