Overview

You can manually create snapshots for the purchased Cloud Disk Storage (CDS). For the usage scenarios of snapshots, you can view Snapshot Overview.

Note:

• Each cloud disk CDS can create 512 snapshot data, including 256 manual snapshots and 256 automatic snapshots;
• The time for snapshot creation depends on the size of the disk data, and generally ranges from seconds to minutes;
• If you implement the snapshot operation for the data disk, you must complete such operation when the data disk is in the status of "Mounted" or "Unmounted". For the security of your data, the snapshot operation is not allowed in other status;
• If you implement the snapshot operation for the system disk, you must complete such operation when the system disk is in the status of "Operating" or "Normal";
• The snapshot contents only include the contents which have been written to the disk at the start of its creation, and don't include the data still in cache. In order to guarantee the integrity of data, we recommend you to first uninstall the disk or confirm to stop all the file write operations.

Operation Guide

You can create a snapshot in the page of disk list, or enter the details page of disk to create a snapshot for the disk. Meanwhile, you can directly enter the page of "Snapshot List", and click "Create a Snapshot" to create a snapshot for the disk in the list.

Create the Page of Disk List

1.Log in to cloud platform

Log in to official website.

• In case you are not registered, you must first register account.
• Registered, direct "Login".

2.Log in to the BCC console

On the left of the console, select "Product Service > Baidu Cloud Compute (BCC) " to enter the page of BCC instance list. Click "Disk" on the left of the page to enter the page of CDS list.

Or you can also select the left "Product Service > Cloud Disk Storage (CDS) " after login to directly enter the page of CDS list.

3.Select the disk for creating a snapshot

After selecting the CDS for creating a snapshot in the page of "CDS List", click the button of "Create a Snapshot".

4.Set the snapshot name

Please enter the snapshot name in the pop-up dialog box of "Create a Snapshot". If your data disk has been mounted, please pay attention to the prompt contents in the pop-up box.

5.Complete the snapshot creation

Click "Confirm" to start the snapshot creation. All the created snapshots will appear in the snapshot list. Your snapshot is created when the snapshot status changes from "Creating" to "Completed".

Create the Details Page of Disk

You can also click the disk name to enter the details page of the disk, and click the button of "Create a Snapshot" on the top right of the page to create a disk for the disk.

Create the Page of Snapshot List

After logging in to the BCC console, you can select the "Snapshot" on the left of the page to enter the page of snapshot list, and directly click "Create a Snapshot".

In the pop-up box, select the snapshot type and disk ID and enter the snapshot name to create a snapshot for the disk.
