          General Storage Capacity Package (GSCP)

          Product Introduction

          General Storage Capacity Package (GSCP) is a prepaid storage capacity form derived from the general storage capacity (GSC):

          • The general storage capacity (GSC) expressed in GB is a virtual storage capacity measurement method generally used for various cloud disk types and is the basic unit for measuring the size of a general storage capacity package;
          • The general storage capacity is a product capacity measurement method by which you can deduct the price of CDS and snapshot capacity at the same time;
          • There is a deduction coefficient between the general storage capacity and individual billing items of the product. Thus, it is possible to convert the general storage capacity into the cloud disk capacity and snapshot capacity through the deduction coefficient.

          You can use the general storage capacity package (GSCP) to deduct the postpayment bill for multiple types of cloud disks and snapshots at the same time. Compared with the existing prepaid and postpaid billing models, GSCP can be used in combination with the cloud disk storage in the bill-by-traffic mode while maintaining a long-term prepayment discount for resources (e.g., 17% discount for one year and 50% discount for three years). You can adjust the cloud disk storage capacity and the number of cloud disks from time to time according to your demand. GSCP has the flexibility in creating cloud disks in the postpaid mode and can also maintain low storage cost in the prepaid mode, making higher cost performance possible.

          Application Scenarios

          The GSCP’s typical application scenarios are as follows:

          • Different operation environments (including development environment, test environment, and production environment) between which you need to perform frequent linkage and adjustment, such as DevOps or microservice scenarios;
          • Container cloud native or mobile game scenarios in which multiple projects are incubated at the same time, and it is required to deliver and release applications frequently according to the project lifecycle.

          In the above scenarios, the user may have multiple cloud disks for use in an account but cannot determine the creation date and service life of each cloud disk. If the user adopts:

          • the prepaid mode, it may result in waste in the purchase time of the disc because the fixed purchase time and the purchased configuration for the prepaid mode keep unchanged. Due to the limitation on the refund for the prepaid cloud disk, redundant financial expenditures occur;
          • the postpaid mode, the user's expenditure remains high when the disk storage capacity required is big and the usage period is long, although each disk is flexible in its use time. Furthermore, it is impossible to evaluate and plan the actual use requirements for the postpaid mode, the enterprise labor cost remains high, and the financial process is cumbersome.

          Attribute of General Storage Capacity Package

          • Single region: The capacity package has a regional attribute. Only the postpaid cloud disk and snapshot bills in all Azones of this region can be directly deducted from the purchased GSCP. For the cloud disks in other regions, you need to purchase GSCP in other regions;
          • Limited capacity: (1) Where the total capacity of all postpaid cloud disks in the current area plus the total capacity of the snapshot chain is less than or equal to the capacity specification of the purchased general storage capacity package, the price of the cloud disk or snapshot can be directly deducted from the capacity package. In this case, no postpaid bill is generated; (2) If the total capacity of all postpaid cloud disks in the current area plus the total capacity of the snapshot chain is more than the specification of the purchased general storage capacity package, an additional postpaid bill is generated for the excess part;
          • Limited time: No fees for the postpaid cloud disk storage in the region can be deducted unless the GSCP is effective and within the validity period. When the purchased capacity package is beyond the period of validity, it is impossible to deduct the fees for the postpaid cloud disk or snapshot which is in use in the region. In this case, the corresponding cloud disk or snapshot starts to generate a postpaid bill;
          • Automatic deduction: The deduction starts immediately after the GSCP capacity package takes effect. The system deducts all CDS postpaid resources in the region automatically from GSCP, without the need to perform any manual operation. If you need to check the deducted capacity and billing information, go to the Finance-Consumer center-Billing Details in the console to check the CDS billing data;
          • Add-Up: If you purchased multiple general storage capacity packages at the same time, you can use them at the same time and deduct the fees in the bill in an add-up manner. Reasonably plan the capacity of the postpaid resources before use and the time to purchase the capacity package;
          • Take effect on the hour: At present, the general storage capacity package takes effect on the hour only. If you choose to take effect immediately on the hour during the purchase, the capacity package automatically takes effect at the next hour when the purchase is successful. If you specify the effective time during the purchase, you can specify any hour in the future.

          Deduction Coefficient

          • Base unit price: 1GB GSC/month = CNY 1
          • The deduction coefficient is the conversion factor between the General Storage Capacity (GSC) and various billing items included in the Cloud Disk Storage (CDS);
          • The deduction coefficient sheet is the core data of the General Storage Capacity Package (GSCP). The deduction coefficient is adjusted simultaneously according to the product pricing.

          For CDS, the deduction coefficient betwen GSC and various billing items are as follows:

          Type of Billing Items GSC coefficient for 1 GB of billing items consumed Description
          General SSD 0.90 1 GB General SSD = 0.90GB GSC
          1GB GSC = 1.111 GB General SSD
          High-performance CDS 0.35 1GB High-performance CDS = 0.35GB GSC
          1GB GSC = 2.857 GB High-performance CDS
          High-throughput HDD 0.35 1GB High throughput HDD = 0.35GB GSC
          1GB GSC = 2.857 GB High throughput HDD
          General HDD 0.30 1GB General HDD = 0.30GB GSC
          1GB GSC = 3.333 GB General HDD
          Previous generation CDS 0.30 1GB Previous generation CDS = 0.30GB GSC
          1GB GSC = 3.333 GB Previous generation CDS
          Snapshot Storage Capacity 0.119 1GB Snapshot Storage Capacity = 0.119 GB GSC
          1GB GSC = 8.403 GB Snapshot Storage Capacity

          Deduction Cases

          If you purchase 100GB GSCP, the postpaid disk combinations that can be deducted may include:

          GSCP usage status Example Whether to generate additional postpaid bills
          Not occupied fully Case I: 100 GB General SSD (=90GB GSCP/ 0.9)
          Case II: 100 GB High-performance CDS (= 35GB GSCP / 0.35)
