Application Scenarios

While creating the Baidu Cloud Compute (BCC), you can create the Cloud Disk Storage (CDS), or create the CDS for the created BCC. Meanwhile, you can directly create an independent CDS and then mount it to the designated BCC.

The data in the CDS are stored in multi replicas in real time, and have a stable and reliable performance. Cloud platform provides a variety of disk types for your selection. You can further know about the disk type and performance in "Product Introduction".

Note:

• Each BCC supports the mounting of a maximum of 5 CDS as data disks.
• The BCC system disks are automatically created in the BCC creation. The system present 40GB of system disk capacity to you for free. You can have a further understanding by "BCC -Storage".

Operation Steps

You can create the CDS by three methods.

Method 1: The Cloud Disk Storage is created while the Baidu Cloud Compute is created

The Cloud Disk Storage (CDS) created by this mode will be automatically mounted to the currently created BCC. After creation, you should Format Cloud Disk Storage (CDS) and then use it.

Method 2: Create the Cloud Disk Storage for the existing Baidu Cloud Compute

If you should add a Cloud Disk Storage (CDS) for the existing BCC instance, you can create a new CDS in the BCC console. The created disk will be automatically mounted to the corresponding BCC. After creation, you should Format Cloud Disk Storage (CDS) and then use it.

The specific steps are as follows:

1.Log in to the official website of cloud platform

Log in to official website

• If you do not register an account, you must first Register an Account for operation.
• If you have registered an account, you can directly Login.

2.Enter the BCC console

In the left navigation bar in the page, select "Baidu Cloud Compute > Baidu Cloud Compute (BCC)" to enter the BCC console.

3.Select a BCC instance

Click the button of "Instance" in the left navigation bar to enter the page of BCC instance list. Before selecting the BCC instance requiring CDS creation, please confirm you have switched to the region where the BCC is located. You can click the name in the top left corner of the console to switch regions.

Note:

• Currently, cloud platform opens the multi-region support. If you want to create CDS in multiple regions, please refer to Region Selection Introduction.
• The disks created in different regions are mutually independent.

4.Enter the details page of instance

In the instance list, click the BCC instance name requiring creation of CDS to enter the details page of instance. Click "Disks of the Instance" on the left of the page to enter the disk page of the instance.

5.Create CDS

Click "Create a cds disk" to enter the page of "Create an Instance".

Payment Method

In this page, you can select the payment mode for the disk, including prepaid and postpaid.

Configuration information

Meanwhile, you should select the Type and capacity of the CDS.

You can also click "Create a cds disk" in the page to create multiple CDS simultaneously for the BCC instance. One BCC instance support the creation of a maximum of 5 data CDS.

Meanwhile, you can directly create a new CDS from the existing snapshot by simply entering the existing snapshot name or ID for creation.

Meanwhile, you can bind the snapshot policy by simply selecting the existing snapshot policy in the creation page. If you haven't created a snapshot policy, you can click "Create a Snapshot Policy" for creation.

Purchase information

After you fill in the configuration information, please select the purchase information of the instance.

Note:

• Purchased duration: Select the prepaid duration.
• The main instance supports prepaid and postpaid, and you should select the purchase duration for the prepaid.
• Purchased number: Number of purchased instances with the same configurations.
• You can custom whether to set Automatic Renewal.

6.Confirm an order

Please confirm the selected configuration and price at the right side of the page, and click "Next" to pay.

7.Creation success

After payment, if the displayed information is "Payment Success", it means that the creation of CDS is completed. The user will receive the SMS prompt for successful purchase of the CDS.

Method 3: Directly create a Cloud Disk Storage

If you consider to Mount the disk to the target BCC, you can directly separately purchase a CDS and Format Cloud Disk Storage (CDS). The operation steps are as follows:

1.Log in to the official website of cloud platform

Log in to official website.

• If you do not register an account, you must first Register an Account for operation.
• If you have registered an account, you can directly Login.

2.Enter the CDS console

In the left navigation bar in the page, select "Product Service > Cloud Disk Storage (CDS)" to enter the page of "disk list".

3.Create CDS

Click "Create a cds disk" at the upper left side of the page to enter the page of "Create an Instance".

4.Select the configuration information of the disk

Payment and region

Select the payment mode, region and available zone of the disk.

Note:

• Currently, cloud platform opens the multi-region support. If you want to create CDS in multiple regions, please refer to Region Selection Introduction.
• The disks created in different regions are mutually independent. Before creating the CDS, please confirm the selected region keeps consistent with the region where the server BCC to be mounted followingly is located.
