Snapshot Billing Time

The Cloud Disk Service (CDS) snapshot service has ended its two-month free trial operation and will be officially billed as of March 13, 2020.

Snapshot Billing Data Range

• All manual snapshot and automatic snapshot data created by you for the CDS (data disk and system disk);
• The snapshot data created by you before formal commercial use of snapshot will be also charged;
• All the snapshot data under all regions of Baidu AI Cloud will be charged, include North China-Beijing, North China-Baoding, East China-Suzhou, South China-Guangzhou, East China Finance-Shanghai, Central China Finance-Wuhan, Hong Kong, China and Singapore;
• For CDS purchased through the event page of the official website, the snapshots created will also be billed normally;
• The custom images created by you for the system disk, and the cross-region replicated are not within the scope of commercial use.
• The commercial use of this snapshot is only for the snapshots generated by the CDS, and the snapshots generated by the local disk are not within the scope of this commercial use.

Snapshot Management Form

Baidu AI Cloud will manage the snapshot data generated by CDS in the form of "snapshot chain". Each CDS has and only one snapshot chain. This snapshot chain will include all manual and automatic snapshot data created by you for the CDS.

• You can view the capacity of and the number of snapshots contained in each snapshot chain by through the console and API, and timely clear the unwanted snapshot data according to actual demands.
• The capacity of each snapshot chain is namely the total capacity of all snapshots generated by each CDS. After the commercial use of snapshots, fees are collected for the occupied storage space in the form of post-payment according to the charging item of "snapshot chain capacity". After the formal commercial use, you can view the storage fees generated by the capacity of each snapshot chain in the bill management.
• After the commercial use of snapshots, the snapshot quota of each CDS will be increased. You can create 512 copies of snapshot data for each CDS, including 256 copies of manual snapshots and 256 copies of automatic snapshots.
• If your CDS is released, you can select whether to release the snapshots generated by the disk at the same time. If you select to retain the snapshots, the snapshot data will continue to be charged, and the release of cloud disk doesn't impact the snapshot charging.

Note:

• The snapshot utilizes the [Incremental Snapshot](https://cloud.baidu.com/doc/CDS/s/Fjwvyag8x#snapshot principle) technology. This technology can help you to effectively remove similar redundant data and save the storage cost.

Snapshot Storage Price

• Billing mode: Snapshot bill = snapshot chain capacity & times snapshot saving time × unit price of snapshot storage.
• Unit price of snapshot storage: For the snapshot chain capacity, fees are collected for the occupied storage space in the form of postpaid (on-demand billing). The unit price of snapshot storage varies according to different regions:

• Billing method: The fees for the storage space occupied by the snapshot chain capacity are billed by the hourly billing method. The time less than one hour shall be taken as one hour.
• The snapshot chain capacity is billed according to the peak capacity within the hour. As the snapshot chain capacity is changing, there may be a slight difference between the snapshot chain capacity displayed in the bill and the snapshot chain capacity displayed on the snapshot chain page.

Arrear Reminder and Use Restriction

Arrear Reminder

• Baidu AI Cloud will judge whether your account balance is enough to pay for the next 3 days based on your bill amount in the last three days. If not, the system will send a renewal reminder.
• Baidu AI Cloud will judge whether your account balance is enough to pay for the next 1 day based on your bill amount in the last one day. If not, the system will send a renewal reminder.

Arrearage Processing

Check if your account balance is enough to pay the fees on the bill on the hour by Beijing standard time (for example, you can check whether the account balance is enough to pay the bill fees from 10:00 to 11:00 at 11:00 sharp by Beijing standard time). If not, your account is in arrears, and the system will send an arrear notification.

The service is stopped immediately in case of arrear, the system will send a notice to stop the service due to such arrear, and the data will be reserved for you for 7 days, during which the fee for storage space will be charged. If you still don't top up your account within 7 days, the system will send a data clearing notification 1 day before and when the resources are cleared.

Use Restriction During the Arrearage Period

During the arrearage period of your account, the related operations of snapshots will be restricted, including:

• When the disk expires (if your CDS utilizes the prepaid method) or your account is in arrears, the creation of automatic snapshots, creation of manual snapshots and adjustment of automatic snapshot policies will be restricted.
• When your account is in arrears, the related operations of snapshots will be all restricted, including: creation of custom images, cross-region replication, snapshot rollback, and creation of CDS according to snapshots.

Please timely top up your account or timely clear the unwanted snapshot data.
