          Snapshot Chain

          Overview

The snapshot chain is a collection of all the snapshot data generated by a CDS. Each CDs cloud disk has and only one snapshot chain. This snapshot chain will include all manual and automatic snapshot data created by you for the CDS cloud disk. Each snapshot chain has a uniquely identified snapshot chain ID, and the snapshot chain ID corresponds to the disk ID one-to-one.

          Create the Snapshot Chain

The snapshot chain will not be generated independently.

The creation of the snapshot chain ID depends on the creation of the disk. Only after the disk is created, the snapshot chain ID will be generated together, and the snapshot chain will not be generated independently. Therefore, when creating a CDS, the snapshot chain ID will be automatically created simultaneously.

          Release the Snapshot Chain

The release of the snapshot chain is related to the disk billing method, disk status, account status and disk release operations.

          • If you actively release the CDS and choose to release the associated snapshots together, the snapshot chain will also be released. If you choose not to release the associated snapshot when releasing the CDS, the snapshot chain will continue to be retained and will not be released with the release of the disk.
          • After the prepaid disk expires, if there is still snapshot data in the snapshot chain and the account status is still normal, the snapshot chain will still be retained and will not be released with the release of the disk.
          • If the account is in arrears, the disk, snapshot chain, and snapshot-related services will all be suspended. During the service suspension period, snapshot-related operations such as creating manual snapshots, creating automatic snapshots, associating automatic snapshot policies, cross-region replication, creating custom images, creating new CDS based on snapshots, and snapshot rollbacks, etc., will be prohibited. After the snapshot is out of service, the data in the snapshot chain will be retained for 7 days, and the data in the snapshot chain will be deleted after the 7 days expire. Please pay attention to SMS and email notifications.

          View the Snapshot Chain

          1. Log in to Baidu AI Cloud

Login Baidu AI Cloud Official Website.

          • In case you are not registered, you must first Account Registration.

          2. Log in to the BCC console

On the left of the console, select "Product Service > Baidu Cloud Compute" to enter the page of BCC instance list.

          3. View snapshot chain information

Select "Snapshot" on the left side of the page and click "Snapshot Chain" to enter the snapshot chain page. On this page, you can view the snapshot chain list information under the current account and region, including the number of automatic snapshots and manual snapshots contained in each snapshot chain. In addition, the capacity of each snapshot chain can be sorted, and unnecessary snapshot data can be cleaned up in time.

In the meantime, you can also directly view the automatic snapshot policy bound to the disk corresponding to the snapshot chain on the list page. If you want to adjust the automatic snapshot policy of the disk corresponding to the snapshot chain according to the actual usage, you can do this directly here.

          Note

          • You can also view the hourly bill generated by the snapshot chain capacity and the storage capacity of the current snapshot chain in the bill details. The system uses hourly billing for the peak capacity of the snapshot chain for billing. Due to the time error of the capacity push and the dynamic change of the snapshot chain capacity every hour, the snapshot chain capacity you can see on the billing and snapshot chain pages will be slightly different.
          • During the trial operation, if the disk is created before January 13, it is temporarily unable to view the corresponding snapshot chain ID and snapshot billing information on the snapshot chain page, and it needs to be generated through the background order replenishment process. The replenishment order is currently underway and is expected to be completed before the formal commercial launch on March 13. During the period, as the work of replenishing orders progresses, the snapshot chain ID will be gradually generated on the console, and the unposted capacity will gradually be visible to users.
          • During the trial operation period, if the disk is created after January 13, the snapshot chain ID will be generated immediately. If the user creates a snapshot for the disk, a capacity push will be generated immediately. Users can view it in the console snapshot-snapshot chain page/bill page.
