Create Cloud Disk Server in Dedicated Cluster

Updated at:2025-11-03

After creating a dedicated cluster, you can proceed to create cloud disk servers within the cluster, including system disks and data disks. This document primarily explains how to create cloud disk servers using dedicated clusters.

Create a CDS system disk on a dedicated cluster

When creating a cloud disk server as a system disk in a CDS dedicated cluster, you need to enable the CDS dedicated cluster while creating the Baidu Cloud Compute (BCC) instance. Once enabled, the system disk will utilize cluster resources to create a CDS system disk. Pay attention to the following points during BCC creation:

  • Charge type: The CDS system disk and its associated Baidu Cloud Compute (BCC) created by the cluster only support postpay
  • Region and availability zone: The BCC instance to be created must have the same region and availability zone as the CDS dedicated cluster;
  • Creation step: On the BCC creation page - Storage Module - System Disk section, choose whether to enable a CDS dedicated cluster. If enabled, select an existing CDS dedicated cluster and set the system disk capacity.
  • Capacity limit: The CDS system disk capacity created by the cluster must be less than the remaining capacity of the dedicated cluster, and the single disk capacity must comply with the system disk’s own capacity limits
  • Type limit: The CDS system disk type created by the cluster matches the cluster type; other types cannot be selected

Create a CDS data disk on a dedicated cluster

There are three methods for creating CDS data disks in a dedicated CDS cluster: Creating CDS data disks while setting up a BCC instance, creating CDS data disks directly from the dedicated cluster, or enabling the dedicated cluster when creating a CDS data disk.

Method I: Create a CDS data disk when creating a BCC instance

When setting up a cloud disk server as a data disk, you can enable the CDS dedicated cluster while creating the Baidu Cloud Compute (BCC) instance. Once enabled, the data disk will use cluster resources to create a CDS data disk.

Method Ii: Create a CDS data disk on a dedicated cluster

After a dedicated cluster is created, locate the corresponding cluster in the list and click "Create Cloud Disk Server" in the operation bar to create a CDS data disk within this dedicated cluster.

Method III: Enable dedicated cluster when creating CDS data disk

When creating a standalone data disk, you can select and enable a Dedicated Cluster to create CDS data disks from it.

Subsequent operations

After creating a cloud disk server, you can make seamless use of existing CDS features such as mounting, formatting, and expansion.
