Release cloud disks

Updated at:2025-11-03

Overview

If you no longer need postpaid cloud disk servers, you can either release them individually or set associated release attributes to let them be automatically released during the instance release process.

Description:

  • Ensure cloud disk servers are unmounted before releasing them individually.
  • Subscribed cloud disk servers (CDS) must be unsubscribed along with the connected subscription-based BCC instances. Alternatively, convert the disk type from subscription to postpaid using the shift charge method before releasing it.

Operation guide

Method 1: Independently release cloud disk server

You can release disks directly from the cloud disk server (CDS) list page.

1. Sign in to the Baidu AI Cloud official website

Sign in to Baidu AI Cloud official website.

  • If you have not registered an account, you must first [register an account](UserGuide/Register an account.md#Register a Baidu Account).
  • If you have registered an account, you can directly sign in.

2. Enter the CDS Disk List page

To access the BCC console, navigate to "Baidu Cloud Compute > Baidu Cloud Compute (BCC)" in the left sidebar. Then click "Disks" in the left-hand menu to open the disk list page. Alternatively, after signing in to the console, select "cloud disk server (CDS)" from the left-hand navigation bar to go directly to the CDS list page.

3. Release disk

Before releasing a disk, ensure it is in pending mount status. Then click "Release" under the "More" option in the operations menu. In the dialog box that appears, decide whether to simultaneously release automatic and manual snapshots of the cloud disk server, and whether to move released ones to the trash bucket. Once done, click OK to proceed with the release.

Method 2: Configure the release with instance attribute

You can enable the associated release of cloud disk servers during instance release by configuring the disk's associated release attributes.

1. Create the disk

Verify the selection of the Release with Instance attribute in the settings bar during disk creation.

2. Modify associated deletion attribute

To change the configuration of the Release with Instance attribute, go to the disk list page, click on Modify Disk Attributes under More in the operation bar, and adjust the disk's related release attributes.

3. Associated disk release

For instance release, you can decide whether the cloud disk server will be released based on the Release with Instance attribute in the release rules. When the Release with Instance attribute is enabled for a cloud disk server, the disk behavior is as follows: checked disks will be released, while unchecked disks will be retained. If the Release with Instance attribute is not enabled for the cloud disk server, you can manually specify the release of related resources below. After clicking Next, review the detailed list to confirm which cloud disk servers will be released or retained.
