Unmount Cloud Disk Server

Updated at:2025-11-03

Overview

You can detach a previously mounted disk.

Notes

When unmounting the data disk, you should note the following:

  • Windows system operation

    For Windows OS, it's recommended to suspend all file system read-write operations on this disk to ensure data integrity. Specific steps: sign in to the Windows system, navigate to Management Tool > Computer Management, and take the target disk offline.

  • Linux system operation

    For the Linux OS, you need to sign in to the instance and perform the umount /mnt command line operation on the disk. After the command is successfully executed, enter the console to unmount the disk.

Operation steps

Disks can be detached either via the Baidu Cloud Compute (BCC) console or by navigating to the Cloud Disk Server (CDS) in the console, accessing the disk list, and initiating detachment.

Note:

  • If you need to unmount a prepay disk, first perform Shift Charge to convert it to a postpaid disk before unmounting;
  • After mounting/unmounting operations, CDS cloud disks often experience drive letter drift. You can query the disk’s drive letter using the command: grep . /sys/block/vd*/serial. The drive letter obtained via this command is not affected by disk mounting/unmounting operations and remains permanent.

1. Sign in to the Baidu AI Cloud official website
