          Cloud Compute Service

          ENIC Overview

          ENIC Introduction

Baidu AI Cloud ENIC can be freely migrated among multiple CVM servers. Multiple ENICs can be bound on the cloud host to realize the high availability network solution. Multiple private IPs can be also bound on ENIC, and each private IP can bind an EIP. After configuration of IP address, users can configure the application strategy to flow different service traffics from NIC with different source IP addresses and realize the multi-IP deployment on a single host.

          Application Scenarios

          • Deployment of high availability clusters

ENIC is a key component in the system architecture, which meets the requirements of high availability architecture for single instance and multiple NICs in the system.

          • Fast failover

The service traffic on the fault instance is quickly migrated to the standby instance by unmounting ENIC from the cloud host instance and then mounting it to another cloud host instance, to realize the disaster recovery deployment of services.

          • Refined Network Management

The instance can mount multiple ENICs, and ENICs can be located in different subnets and configured with the security group and ACL security access rules separately, to carry out the security access control of traffic for each ENIC and realize the data isolation between different services.

          NIC Type of Cloud Host

          **Product Limitations**
          • The BCC instance and ENIC must be of same availability zone and same VPC, but they may be in different subnets and mounted to different security groups.
          • Mounting multiple ENICs to an instance can not improve the private bandwidth performance of the instance.
          • Each VPC can support up to 500 ENICs.
          • There are 1-40 IPs on a single ENI.
          • Number of ENICs mounted to CVM server = min (number of server cores, 8).

Number of configurable IPs on ENI binding to the CVM server

          TypeDescription
Primary ENI Native NIC on virtual machine instance (eth0), which is automatically generated and configured during creation of virtual machine instance. The primary ENI can not be plugged/unplugged or migrated, and it is consistent with the lifecycle of CVM servers.
The BCC primary ENI is not of ENIC and is not in the list of ENICs. The primary ENI is configured on the "BCC Details" page.
ENIC It is separately created for users and mounted to the virtual machine instance, and users can mount ENICs during creation, shutdown or running of virtual machine. After users mount and configure ENIC, different traffic can be routed from different ENICs by configuring the system routing.
