Baidu Cloud Compute (BCC) is a computing service with auto-scaling capability. The management is simpler and more efficient than BBC. You can create or release any number of BCC instances at any time according to your business requirements to improve operations efficiency. BCC builds a stable and reliable foundation for you to deploy the application rapidly, reduces the difficulty of network scale computing, and enables you to focus on core business innovation. You do not need to spend any time and money to purchase and maintain the hardware of the hosting virtual machine, which reduces the IT cost effectively.

The Reason to Select BCC

• Flexible upgrading. BCC can be scaled up/down at any time to respond to the business change quickly.
• Low cost and on-demand use. It supports two billing modes, i.e., annual and monthly billing (prepaid) and bill-by-traffic (postpaid).
• High manageability. You can log in to BCC through the client or VNC, which provides multi-dimensional monitoring and alarm to help you find problems in advance and reduce the loss.

Relevant Concepts

BCC instance

The BCC instance can be understood as a virtual server, including most basic computing components, such as CPU and memory. It is the actual operation entity presented to you by BCC. The BCC instance is the core concept of the BCC. It supports the IP binding, image, snapshot, and other features. For example, the CDS disk and simple cache service (SCS) cannot be used until they are mounted onto the BCC instance.

Image

The image provides the operating system and pre-installed software for the BCC instance. Baidu AI Cloud provides multiple public images for your selection. You can also create your exclusive custom image based on the BCC system disk at a certain time, which can be seen by you only.

Disk

The disk provides the storage service for BCC and can be used as the system disk or extensible data disk of instances. It is the block storage with low delay, persistence, high reliability, and high elasticity.

Region

The region refers to the physical location of the BCC instance. At present, Baidu AI Cloud provides multi-region support. You can select the BCC service in different regions according to the distribution of your customer base. See Instruction for Region Selection.

Note: The private networks of BCC instances in the region are connected with each other. In contrast, the private networks of BCC instances in different regions are not connected with each other. Because the cost of physical resources is different, the price slightly varies in each region.

Security Group

The security group can be comprehended as a kind of virtual firewall, which is used for access control of the instance network. It has a data packet filtering and status detection feature. When you create a BCC instance, you can select the default security group or the custom security group.

• The default security group allows all inbound and outbound access,
• The custom security group is the inbound and outbound rules you work out.

Snapshot

The snapshot is the backup of the specified data set at the specified time.

• The snapshot is mainly used for online data backup and recovery. It can quickly restore the data to a certain point in time in case of application failure or file damage.
• The snapshot is also used to provide you with another data access channel. When the original data is applied in the processing line, you can access the snapshot data and use the snapshot for testing.
