Overview

The custom monitoring provides you with the monitoring capability of your own business data. You can push the time series indicator data and event data of your concerned business to the BCM platform through API. You can view the monitoring data, add the alarm and view the alarm event on the BCM platform, to protect your business real-time.

Differences between indicator monitoring and event monitoring:

• Indicator monitoring: It is used to solve the problem for the report, query, and alarm of time-series monitoring data collected periodically and continuously.
• Event monitoring: It is used to solve the problem for the report, query and alarm of monitoring data of discontinuous event type.

The service process of custom monitoring is shown as follows:

1. Create a namespace.
2. Add monitoring indicators or monitoring events.
3. Push the data through API.
4. View the monitored Data
5. Carry out the alarm management, including add policy and view event.

Create a namespace.

1. Log in to the BCM platform, and then click "Custom Monitoring" -> "Add Namespace" in the left navigation bar to enter the Add Namespace form. After form filling, you can complete the creation of namespace.

2. After successful creation of namespace, click "More" in the upper right corner to edit or delete this namespace.

Add monitoring indicators or monitoring events.

Adding Monitoring Indicators

1. Log in to the BCM platform, and then click "Custom Monitoring" -> "Name of Namespace" in the left navigation bar to enter the Indicator List page of this namespace. Click "Add Indicators", and then fill in the form to complete the configuration of indicator information.

2. After configuring indicator information successfully, you can view all monitoring indicators of this namespace in the indicator list. Click the shortcut operation to edit, copy, delete and batch delete the indicators, which is convenient for you to manage the indicators quickly.

Descriptions:

To avoid the historical monitoring data failure and the influence on alarm experience, modifying the indicator name, dimension, and push cycle is not allowed after indicator adding.

Adding Event

1. Log in to the BCM platform, and then click "Custom Monitoring" -> "Name of Namespace" in the left navigation bar to enter the Indicator List page of this namespace. Click "Event List" -> "Add Event" in the level-2 side navigation bar, and then fill in the form to complete the configuration of event information.

2. After configuring event information successfully, you can view all events of this namespace in the event list. Click the shortcut operation to edit, copy, delete and batch delete the events, which is convenient for you to manage the events quickly.

Descriptions:

To avoid the historical monitoring data failure, modifying the event name and event-level is not allowed after event adding.

Push the data through API.

• To push the indicator data, you can view API:Push Indicator Data.
• To push the event data, you can view API: Push Event Data.

View the monitored Data

Viewing Indicator Monitoring Data

Log in to the BCM platform, and then click "Custom Monitoring" -> "Name of Namespace" in the left navigation bar to enter the Indicator List page of this namespace. Click the indicator name to view the monitoring data of this indicator. You can click the "Slide Left/Right" button in the upper-middle part to switch between indicators quickly, which is convenient for you to improve the efficiency of viewing monitoring data.

Viewing Event Monitoring Data

Log in to the BCM platform, and then click "Custom Monitoring" -> "Name of Namespace" in the left navigation bar to enter the Indicator List page of this namespace. Click "Event List" in the level-2 side navigation bar, and then click the event name to view the monitoring data of this event.

Alarm Management

Alarm policy

Method 1: You can click "Alarm Strategy" in the level-2 side navigation bar of a namespace to enter the Alarm Strategy page. You can add, view, edit and delete the alarm policies for the monitoring indicators and monitoring events of this namespace on this page. It is convenient for you to manage the alarm in a business dimension.

Method 2: You can click "Alarm Policy" in the global "Alarm Management" entry to enter the Global Alarm Policy page. You can manage the alarm policy in the global dimension.

Alarm History

Method 1: You can click "Alarm History" in the level-2 side navigation bar of a namespace to enter the Alarm History page. You can view and analyze the alarm history of this namespace on this page.

Method 2: You can click "Alarm History" in the global "Alarm Management" entry to enter the Global Alarm history page. You can manage the alarm history in the global dimension.
