When purchasing an EIP, what should I choose, pay-as-you-go or bandwidth-based billing?

Evaluate your service demands: choose bandwidth-based billing for stable usage, or pay-as-you-go for peak periods like 9~10 AM or 5~7 PM. Note: Pay-as-you-go does not guarantee bandwidth, whereas pay-by-bandwidth does. For example, the purchased 100M EIP with bandwidth-based billing enables a bandwidth up to 100M. However, if it is switched to traffic-based billing, the bandwidth of 100M cannot be guaranteed, as it may be affected by factors such as customer's total bandwidth or overall egress bandwidth.

Should I purchase an EIPGROUP or an EIP?

For guaranteed bandwidth for a single EIP, it is recommended to purchase dedicated bandwidth for that EIP instance, ensuring exclusive bandwidth not affected by other services. If Public IP usage involves multiple instances creating off-peak traffic scenarios, using EIPGROUP for centralized bandwidth control with simplified statistic monitoring is recommended.

Why can't the bandwidth of pay-as-you-go EIPs reach the purchased bandwidth?

The bandwidth peak for pay-as-you-go EIPs is not a guaranteed service standard and may be throttled during periods of resource contention, whereas fixed-bandwidth EIPs come with guaranteed bandwidth peaks.

Can prepaid EIPs be unsubscribed in advance?

Prepaid EIPs can be unsubscribed in advance. The refund rules are as follows:

Partial days are rounded up to the nearest full day. Partial days are rounded up to the nearest full day.
Usage duration Usage duration Example
Less than or equal to 30 days Refund amount = Actual payment for instance purchase - Usage duration (days) × Daily prorated price of the actual payment based on the purchase period × 1.5. You purchased a one-month prepaid EIP on January 1, 2023, at 10:00 AM for ¥23. After submitting an unsubscribe request on January 11 at 3:00 PM, the refund calculation is: ¥23 - ¥23 × (11/31) × 1.5 = ¥10.76.
More than 30 days Refund amount = Actual payment for instance purchase - Usage duration (days) × Daily unit price × Corresponding duration-based discount. A Baidu Cloud Compute instance costs ¥23 per month for a one-month prepay or ¥229.08 after an 8.3% discount for one year. If you purchased a one-year prepaid EIP on January 1, 2022, at 10:00 AM for ¥229.08 and submitted an unsubscribe request on March 3, 2022, at 12:00 PM, the usage duration totals 2 months and 3 days. The refund calculation is: ¥229.08 - ¥23 × 2 - (3/30) × ¥23 = ¥180.78.

What charge types does EIP support?

EIP supports three billing methods: prepay-subscription, postpay-by-bandwidth, and postpay-as-you-go.

  • Prepaid Subscription: Offers tiered billing based on bandwidth specifications, with prices lower than pay-as-you-go plans.
  • Postpaid by Bandwidth: Real-time billing and deductions based on minute-by-minute user consumption, following tiered pricing.
  • Postpaid by Traffic: Billing is determined by outbound traffic from the EIP; inbound traffic is excluded. Outbound traffic refers to data transferring from Baidu AI Cloud data centers to the Internet. IP idle fees are charged only when cloud resources are unbound; EIP instances bound to active resources are exempt from this fee.

Can the EIP's charge type be changed?

Switching between prepaid, postpaid by bandwidth, and postpaid as-you-go billing types is supported.

How to check billing details for EIP?

Log in to the Console, go to Finance in the upper-right menu, choose Consumption Center - Bill Details from the left navigation panel, select Resource Bill on the right, and pick EIP as the product to view detailed billing information for each instance.

Can the bandwidth of a prepaid EIP be reduced?

Prepaid EIPs support configuration downgrades, which can be performed in the bandwidth adjustment section of the EIP console.

What are the billing rules for TBSP?

Shared traffic packages are available under the prepaid model, with prices varying by region, validity period, specifications, and plans. The validity period has three options: 1 month, 6 months, or 1 year.

TBSP prices can be found on the Purchase page.

Shared traffic packages are divided into off-peak and full-time categories based on the deduction period.

  • The off-peak traffic package activates automatically during off-peak hours (00:00 AM to 08:00 AM Beijing Time), offsetting postpaid EIP traffic charges in the region until the package is exhausted or expires. Once the package is consumed or expired, the EIP reverts to its original billing mode.
  • Full-time traffic packages operate continuously, 24/7. If both off-peak and full-time traffic packages are available, off-peak traffic is deducted first from the off-peak package, while non-off-peak traffic is charged to the full-time package.

    Note: Traffic is calculated using Base-1024 notation, e.g., 1TB = 1,024GB.

Can a mistakenly released EIP be recovered?

EIPs that users actively release are retained in bucket trash management for seven days. Relationships for instances in the bucket trash are forcibly unbound. Restored instances require reconfiguration. Instances not resumed for billing before the bucket trash deadline will be permanently released.

If you accidentally release an EIP, log in to the Baidu AI Cloud Management Console. Navigate to Product Service - EIP - Bucket Trash to enter the Bucket Trash page. Select the desired region, view the instance information in the bucket, click Resume Billing, complete the renewal payment, and the instance will be moved back to the instance management list.

Note:

  • EIPs in the bucket trash are subject to a quota of 10 per region, retained in reverse chronological order by default. If the number of EIPs in the bucket trash reaches 10, new entries will displace the oldest ones.
  • EIP instances in the bucket trash occupy user quotas. If they are no longer needed, consider permanently releasing them from the bucket trash.

For details, refer to Bucket Trash

The original IP expired and was deleted, and a new one has been applied for—can the original still be used?

No, all created IP addresses are randomly assigned.

The server has expired. Why is the EIP still being charged when in standby mode?

After the server expires, it will no longer generate charges. However, if the EIP is not released, IP address lease fees will continue to be deducted.
