What is EIP?

EIP refers to Elastic IP, offering users public network bandwidth services. Users can bind or unbind EIP instances with Baidu Cloud Compute, load balancers, NAT gateways, VPN gateways, and relational database instances to provide public IP addresses and public network bandwidth for accessing the internet, enabling flexible service adaptation and improving user scalability.

What is EIP direct?

EIP Direct is primarily used in scenarios where virtual machines need to view public IPs, such as forwarding internal and external traffic to different IP addresses.

What is the difference between EIPGROUP and EIP?

  • An EIPGROUP comprises one public network bandwidth and a set of public IPs. Postpaid EIP instances can join an EIPGROUP, whereas prepaid EIP instances cannot.
  • Each EIP is assigned one bandwidth per IP.

What is hybrid cloud bandwidth?

For public network access in scenarios involving IDC/office networks/hosted devices, the hybrid cloud bandwidth product simplifies user configurations.

What is a bandwidth scale-up package/cross-border bandwidth package?

The bandwidth scale-up package can be applied to prepaid EIP instances or EIPGROUPs, offering temporary prepaid bandwidth scaling. It supports immediate bandwidth adjustments. Upon deletion, the linked EIP reverts to its original bandwidth. This package enhances the flexibility of EIP bandwidth configuration.

It can be associated with EIP instances or EIPGROUP of any billing type for temporary cross-border bandwidth expansion. It supports on-demand bandwidth adjustments. Upon release, the associated EIP instance or EIPGROUP reverts to its original bandwidth, ensuring greater configuration flexibility. Cross-border connections are directly linked to the Chinese Mainland via high-quality carrier networks, avoiding international carrier exits and providing lower latency.

What is the maximum number of EIPs that can be purchased?

To ensure rational EIP resource usage, Baidu AI Cloud imposes limits on EIP instance purchases per user, subject to adjustment as per product operation policies. EIP quota is not adjustable by default; IP convergence can be achieved via NAT gateway or load balancer. Specific rules are as follows. In case of any special circumstances, the account must be provided with corresponding cloud service resources, and the usage scenario must be reasonable. Users can submit a ticket to apply:

  • Personal users are allocated 50 EIP quotas per region.
  • Enterprise users are allocated a quota of 130 EIPs per region.

Is EIP bandwidth for uplink or downlink?

The public network bandwidth you purchase represents the upload bandwidth, which is the data flowing out from the virtual machine.

What is the maximum number of EIPs that can be accommodated in an EIPGROUP?

Each EIPGROUP is configured with a set proportion of IPs, defaulted to 2 IPs. Users can increase the number of IPs as needed. For standard BGP EIPGROUPs: the maximum number of IPs ≤ public network bandwidth (M)/5M; for enhanced BGP EIPGROUPs: the maximum number of IPs ≤ public network bandwidth (M)/20M.

What is the difference between enhanced BGP and standard BGP?

For the comparison between enhanced BGP and standard BGP, primary changes are as follows:

  • The starting bandwidth for sale has been increased: BGP starts at 1M, while enhanced BGP starts at 100M
  • Enhanced BGP features a lower average unit price than that of the standard BGP. For details, refer to Official website.
  • Enhanced BGP includes advanced security features, such as burst traffic package purchases, second-level monitoring support (under development), and provincial blackhole support (under development).

Which EIP ports are restricted by default?

Port 25 is inaccessible by default. For details, refer to https://cloud.baidu.com/doc/EIP/s/flmgdlnw3

What is the purpose of shared traffic packages? When should I purchase a shared traffic package?

The Shared Traffic Package is now available: an efficient and economical traffic management product. It activates immediately upon purchase, and postpaid EIP fees billed by traffic in the same region will automatically be offset until the package is exhausted or expires. You can flexibly use shared traffic packages based on your service needs to reduce bandwidth costs.

How to view traffic status for each EIP in a bandwidth group?

  1. Log in to the Management Console and go to the EIP service.
  2. Select EIPGROUP from the navigation bar and click on the EIPGROUP name to access the details page.
  3. Click the Monitor button under shared IP Instance operations to view monitoring data in the popup window.

What is the purpose of a bandwidth package? When should I purchase a bandwidth package?

There are two types of bandwidth services: bandwidth scale-up packages and cross-border acceleration packages.

What are the usage limitations of shared traffic packages?

The shared traffic package has the following usage limits, please use it appropriately:

  • Prepaid shared traffic packages cannot be released early, so please plan accordingly.
  • Once a traffic package expires, any unused traffic within it will no longer be available.
  • Shared traffic packages that are close to expiration will be prioritized for deduction. If two packages have the same expiration date, the package purchased earlier will be deducted first.

What packages are available for shared traffic?

Users can choose shared traffic packages as needed: either all-day or off-peak packages.

The off-peak package is available from 12:00 AM to 8:00 AM Beijing Time. If both full-time and off-peak traffic packages are available, the off-peak traffic package will be prioritized during off-peak hours, while the full-time traffic package will be used during other hours.

How can I monitor my EIP/EIPGROUP usage and receive early warnings?

This functionality is available. On the Baidu Cloud Monitor (BCM) page, navigate to the EIP page, select the relevant EIP/EIPGROUP instance, and configure alarm strategies to monitor bandwidth usage thresholds and set early warning alerts.

How to properly allocate bandwidth for IP members in EIPGROUP?

By default, IP members in EIPGROUP compete for bandwidth. To limit bandwidth competition, select EIPGROUP in the EIP console, enter the details page, and configure bandwidth limiting policies to restrict maximum bandwidth allocation for EIP members
