Application scenarios

Background introduction

Cloud Smart Network (CSN) connects virtual private clouds (VPCs), dedicated channels, and edge network VPCs, enabling inter-VPC, cross-region, and cloud-to-off-cloud network interconnections. CSN instances offer custom route tables and routes for flexible interconnection, isolation, and traffic redirection policies, helping enterprises create adaptable, reliable, and large-scale enterprise cloud networks.

Scenario examples

Cloud Smart Network typically plays an important role in the following typical scenarios:

1. Intra-region network interconnection

Item Description
Scenario description Ideal for enterprises operating in one region needing to interconnect multiple network instances within the same region.
Configuration operations After creating a CSN instance, connect VPCs needing interconnection to the intra-region TGW instance through multiple network connections (the TGW is system-generated upon instance creation), enabling seamless intra-region network connections.
Product advantages Traditional methods are cumbersome, require separate billing for every line, and can't connect VPCs with overlapping network segments. With Cloud Smart Network, add network instances to CSN for immediate interconnection. Intra-region instances connect by default with no extra bandwidth fees, cutting enterprise costs while streamlining configurations, improving user experience, and reducing learning efforts.

2. Cross-region interconnection of multiple VPCs and IDCs

Item Description
Scenario description For businesses with cross-regional services, the solution ensures low-latency and reliable high-speed transmissions across regions.
Configuration operations After creating a CSN instance, connect VPCs and dedicated channels from different regions to the CSN instance. CSN automatically establishes TGW instances in the respective regions and links them, enabling inter-regional network connections. Activating the dedicated route learning feature for dedicated channel networks ensures dissemination of IDC route entries, facilitating seamless IDC interconnections.
Product advantages Traditional setups require multiple peerings, dedicated channels, or VPN gateways, causing complexity, high costs, and inefficient network paths with latent delays. CSN automatically chooses the best route for low-latency communication.

3. Secure traffic access between multiple VPCs

Final Version of Secure Traffic Access Between Multiple VPCs.png

Item Description
Scenario description For enterprises prioritizing security, traffic exchanged between VPCs must be secured via a security VPC.
Configuration operations After a CSN instance is established, connect all VPC network instances to it. Utilize routing functions such as creating custom route tables and entries to direct untrusted traffic through a security service VPC for filtering before allowing only safe traffic for communication.
Product advantages Traditional systems necessitate manually adjusting countless route entries, which is operationally tedious, costly, and restrictive. CSN instances enable quick deployment, flexibility, reduced maintenance efforts, and more efficient network management.

4. Cloud-edge connection

Final Version of Cloud-Edge Connection.png

Item Description
Scenario description For customers whose services depend on edge computing nodes and need seamless connections between central cloud VPCs and edge VPCs to guarantee smooth data transmission and coordinated scheduling of computing resources, thereby improving overall performance and service reliability.
Configuration operations After setting up a CSN instance, link the network instances of central cloud VPCs and edge VPCs to CSN. CSN will automatically create TGW instances in the respective regions and establish connections between TGW instances across regions, enabling cross-region network instance linkage and connections between the central cloud and Baidu Edge Computing.
Product advantages CSN allows cloud-edge connections without the need for complex configurations, supports automatic TGW instance creation, delivers low-latency and high-stability connections, cuts bandwidth expenses, offers flexible scaling, ensures security, and assists enterprises in building efficient cloud-edge connection architectures.
