Operation preparation

Updated at:2025-11-11

Step I: Confirm the cloud migration plan for the service

Multiple cloud migration solutions are available for local IDCs. Initially, users may consult Baidu AI Cloud account managers to compare advantages, pricing, and select the optimal solution. Among various access solutions, dedicated lines offer high security, stability, and low latency. If users confirm the use of dedicated line connections for cloud migration, they may refer to the next step to select an appropriate Express Tunnel access point.

Step II: Select access point

The access point refers to the geographic location where the physical dedicated line connects to Baidu AI Cloud services provided by Baidu AI Cloud, which support connections from various types of carrier physical dedicated lines. Before applying for a physical dedicated line, users are required confirm the access point. For more information, please refer to Express Tunnel Access Point Address.

Users can consider the following three factors to determine the most appropriate access point.

  1. Confirm the region where the access point is located

When choosing an access point, prioritize proximity—select the access point nearest to the local IDC. The shorter the distance between the local IDC and the access point, the lower the network latency. For instance, if the local IDC is in Beijing, users should pick an access point located in the North China-Beijing Region.

  1. Confirm the ISP

Access points may vary in the ISPs they support for incoming connections. Once you’ve determined the access point location, consult a Baidu AI Cloud account manager to identify the carriers available for that region. Choose an appropriate carrier after evaluating factors such as cost and network performance.

  1. Confirm port type

Select the required optical port type. Supported port types differ depending on the access point. For details, consult a Baidu AI Cloud account manager. Port specifications determine their speed, with commonly supported options being 1 Gbps, 10 Gbps, 40 Gbps, and 100 Gbps.

Plain Text
1* Optical Port: A physical interface for connecting fiber optic cables.
  • Description Baidu AI Cloud provides users with free optical modules of 1 Gbps, 10 Gbps, 40 Gbps, and 100 Gbps specifications with a transmission distance of 10 kilometers. For optical modules with a transmission distance exceeding 10 kilometers, users are required to purchase them separately.

Step III: Solution design

Reach out to Baidu AI Cloud and related carriers for consultation on Express Tunnel solutions.

Step IV: Site survey by carrier

After confirming the Express Tunnel access point and access solution, users may contact the carrier to verify the Express Tunnel solution and submit a site survey application ticket to Baidu AI Cloud. Note

  • For access points within Mainland China: Submit an application to the Baidu AI Cloud data center for a site survey.
  • For access points in Hong Kong SAR: There is no need to submit a site survey application to Baidu AI Cloud. The construction partner only needs to request access from the data center provider to enter the operator's Meet-Me Room for the survey, bypassing the need to survey the Baidu AI Cloud data center.
  1. Start by placing an order on the Baidu AI Cloud console, then contact Baidu AI Cloud personnel to process the offline access ticket for the facility. For detailed information requirements, consult Baidu AI Cloud staff.
  2. Baidu AI Cloud will handle your request promptly once received. Please wait patiently while awaiting approval.
  3. After approval, ensure the site survey is completed on time, adhering to the schedule and personnel details in the site survey application.
