          Express Tunnel (ET) Association

          Introduction

With the booming of the cloud application and digital transformation of enterprises, customers have high demands on the speed and application scenarios of the ET bandwidth, for example, it is required to support multiple physical ETs under the single VPC, and achieve load balance for the traffic. The previous operation mode is complicated, and the multi-path routing load of the routing table can only satisfy the requirement of the load between different gateways. It cannot handle complicated network scenarios, such as the load of two ETs at the same ET access point, and the master/slave at the access point of different ETs in the same region.

To understand these easily, we introduce two terms to this document:

Main tunnel and subtunnel without any actual product name. The ETs are associated with each other as follows. You can select one ET as the “Main tunnel”, another tunnel to be associated is called “Subtunnel”, and the “Subtunnel” is associated with the “Main tunnel”.

          Description

At present, the association function supported by the ET is at the open beta test stage. If you need to use it, submit the ticket for application .

          Use Constraints

If the ET association function is used, the following constraints shall be met:

          • The physical ET access where the “Main tunnel” and “Subtunnel” are located must be located in the same ET router.
          • The status of the ET’s “Main tunnel” and “Subtunnel” must be “Available”, and has not been associated.
          • The “Main tunnel” has to be bound to the ET gateway first, and then other “Subtunnels of the ET”.
          • When the ET tunnels are associated, the “Main tunnel” and “Subtunnel” must have the same routing type, such as the static or BGP.

          Step 1:

If the displayed status of the instance created from the ET access is “Available”, you can select an “ET” from the navbar in the physical ET instance according to the user situation, and click “+Create Tunnel List” to create an ET. After the creation, please contact the Baidu AI Cloud staff to review your tunnel. After your tunnel has been approved, the ET status will turn into “Available”.

          Notes:

          • If multiple physical ETs are used, you need to perform “+Create Tunnel List” under the instance ID of each physical ET.

          Step 2:

Regard one ET as the “Main tunnel” to associate other “subtunnels”.

          Notes:

          • Operation preconditions: You need to create an ET gateway and bind it to the ET ID of the main tunnel before associating the ET ID of other “subtunnels”.
          • After that, you can make changes in the “ET associated” of the “Main tunnel”.

          Reliability Detection

          Introduction

The Baidu AI Cloud ET reliability detection function provides the Bidirectional Forwarding Detection (BFD) function as the link-level two-way forwarding detection mechanism to provide users with millisecond-level link detection, further speeding up the link switching during any network failure, and minimizing the adverse impact of the network failure on businesses. Create a BFD Configuration Item

          Configuration Item Value range Description
Express Tunnel (ET) ID Express Tunnel (ET) Name Users can select the status of this physical ET as an optional name of the ET.
Message sending interval It is an integer between 200 and 1,000 in ms with the recommended value of 300. Only one number can be entered in each input box.
Message receiving interval It is an integer between 200 and 1,000 in ms with the recommended value of 300. Only one number can be entered in each input box.
Multiple of the detection time The input range is an integer between 3 and 10 with the recommended value of 4. Only one number can be entered in each input box.

          Description

At present, the reliability detection function supported by the ET is at the open beta test stage. If you need to use it, submit the ticket for application .

          Use Constraints

If the ET BFD function is used, the following constraints shall be met:

          • 1. The ET BFD function is used to perform the two-way detection. It needs to be configured by both Baidu AI Cloud and the user, and the BFD parameters to be configured by both parties must be consistent with each other, otherwise the BFD session may not be established due to the inconsistent negotiation of the BFD parameters.
          • 2. The precondition of the ET to enable the BFD is that the ET status turns into “Available”.
          • 3. When the ET BFD function is disabled, it makes no impact on the ET availability.
          • 4. One ET with the status of “Available” can only enable one BFD rule.
          • 5. Only the ET with the local physical ET port of 10G and 100G is featured with the BFD function, rather than the physical ET port of 1G.
          • 6. The ET BFD adopts the default product quota. If you require a different quota, please submit a ticket. It will be determined whether to make adjustment after evaluation by the Baidu AI Cloud staff.

          Step 1:

You log in to the Baidu AI Cloud console first, and then select Network -> ET Access. Afterwards, you can select the ID of a physical ET which has been created, and then click it.

          Step 2:

Now, you are directed to the details page of a physical ET. Select an “ET” from the navbar on the left to create an ET. After it is reviewed by the Baidu AI Cloud staff, the status of this ET displayed is “Available”.

          Step 3:

At this time, you can click the navbar on the left of a physical ET, select “Reliability Detection”, click “+Create Rule”, and enter information one by one as required in the pop-up dialog box.
