Edge node: Any place outside the cloud computing center; depending on the needs of different scenarios and the degree of delay tolerance, the choices include but are not limited to: Local device side, local area network node (gateway, controller, control system server), wide area network node (base station, CDN).

Associate device: Device which is connected to the edge node and does not have a strong computing ability. Associate device is connected to the edge node through various protocols and performs data communication.

Baidu IntelliEdge: Baidu edge computing products include the intelligent edge local package and the intelligent edge cloud management suite.

Edge core: It refers specifically to local operating packages of Baidu IntelliEdge (BIE), including master program, service, storage volume and system resources used.

Master program: It refers to the core part to realize local operating packages of Baidu IntelliEdge (BIE) and is responsible for managing all storage volume, service and built-in engine system and externally providing RESTful API and command line.

Service: It refers to a set of operating programs controlled by Baidu IntelliEdge (BIE) to provide certain specific functions, such as message routing services, function computing services and microservices.

Module: It provides operating software packages for service, such as Docker image and instance used to start service.

Storage volume: It refers to the directory used by service. It can be a read-only directory, such as the directory where resources such as configurations, certificates and scripts are stored, or it can also be a writable directory, such as log, data and other persistent directories.
