          Dedicated Cloud Compute

          Core Concept

DCC: It refers to the physical host’s resources dedicated to users. After a user has purchased a DCC, this host is regarded as the DCC of this user. A virtualized program has been deployed in the DCC by default. Therefore, after the user has created a dedicated instance on its DCC, it can use this DCC .

Dedicated instance: It refers to a virtual machine that is created by a user with the virtualized system on a DCC. The user can freely create a dedicated instance under the consent of the DCC’s resources. A dedicated instance is equivalent to an independent BCC instance.

Local disk: It is common disk media used in the dedicated instance, and can provide high-IO read/write performance for the dedicated instance. RAID5 is used to achieve high availability of physical disks on the user’s dedicated physical host. In this way, when a physical disk failed, this technology can guarantee that the disk array and the user’s dedicated instance can be used. In the dedicated instance, an offline expansion of local disks is available.

Image: It refers to a template of the dedicated instance operating environment, including the operating system, installed software and configuration information. Users can create a dedicated instance and change the system disk of a dedicated instance with images. The Baidu AI Cloud provides a variety of public images for users to select when a dedicated instance is created. Users can also create a custom image based on the dedicated instance system disk at a particular moment, and this image is only visible to the user itself.

Snapshot: It refers to an available copy of the user-specified data set. This copy includes an image of the corresponding data at the user-specified point in time (when the copy starts). Currently, the dedicated instance only supports creating a snapshot of the system disk, rather than creating a snapshot of local disks. When you need to back up data on the local disk, you are recommended to save essential data in the database, or purchase professional storage products to save them, such as CDS or BOS.

Security group: It refers to a set of agreed security access rules for a set of dedicated instances. You can select to associate a dedicated instance with the default security group or a custom security group. The default security group allows all inbound and outbound access, While a custom security group allows you to define the inbound and outbound rules as you like.
