          Operating Steps

          1. Log in to the Baidu AI Cloud's official website. After successful login, select “Product Service > BBC” . The “Physical Server List” page is displayed.
          2. Click “Purchase BBC” to enter the Purchase page, and fill in the region and availability zone, configuration information, image, storage, network, tag, system information and purchase information.

          Region and Availability Zone

          Region and Availability Zone Note
          Current region Select the region you select currently, which can be changed in the Region list in the upper left corner of the console. It is recommended that you the region closest to the user, so that the user can obtain the lower delay and higher access speed
          Availability zone The availability zone means the same zone where electricity and network are independent of each other. The failure is isolated within an available zone. If your business scale is large, you can further improve the reliability by creating BBC in different availability zones

          Configuration Information

          Configuration Information Instruction
          Type At present, it provides the IO optimized, big data type, GPU type, FPGA type and general purpose standard configuration instance.
          You can purchase different instance types for different regions and availability zones.
          If you want to purchase the GPU or FPGA type BBC instance, you need to submit a ticket for application or contact your Baidu AI Cloud sales representative for activation
          Configuration Select the suitable package configuration, including the CPU and memory size and the storage space size. The storage type includes SSD and SATA.

          Image Note
          Image type The public image and custom image are supported. For the creation method of custom image, see Create Custom Image
          Operating system At present, CentOS 6.3/6.5/7.2/7.2gpu/7.3/7.3gpu, Ubuntu16.04 and 16.04gpu are supported. The supported operating system varies depending on different types of instances, and the console display results shall prevail

          Storage

          Storage configuration Item Note
          Raid parameters See Raid Parameter Instruction for details. Big data models do not support Raid
          Disk Partition The SWAP partition size is fixed to 1GB
          . The home partition size of system disk is optional, and the upper limit is 100GB
          . The remaining space is allocated to the home partition.

          Network

          Network Configuration Item Note
          Type of Network The virtual private network that the current BBC belongs to. If there is not any optional network for your private network, you need to create a subnet or select another private network firstly. See Create Subnet for details

          System Information

          System Information Note
          Instance name It can be automatically generated by the system or customized by users
          Admin password It can be automatically generated by the system or customized by users. For security reasons, the Admin password is not sent in the short message format currently. If you select the randomly generated password, you need to reset the password on the console after the successful creation

          Purchase Information

          Information Note
          Duration The purchase period of minimum one month is supported. The cost discount is provided for the purchase period of one year or more.
          QTY Select the number of BBC servers you want to buy this time
          Auto Renew Enabled the auto renew, which is deducted 7 days before the expiration of instance. It sends the short message and email reminder to you regardless of auto renew successful or failed.
          1. Click the “Next Step” to confirm the order and pay.

          After successful purchase, view the page of “Physical Server List”.

          Create a Subnet

          If there is not any optional subnet for the users’ private network when users select the network type of the BBC configuration information as shown in the figure below:

          Click “Create Subnet” to enter the “Create Subnet” page according to the prompt, and then fill in the network name and CIDR according to the prompt on the page. The CIDR block should not be overlapped, and the allowed block size is between the /16 network mask and /28 network mask.

          For example, create a VPC of 172.16.0.0/24. If you want to create three subnets in this address place, the CIDR blocks are respectively:

          Subnet 1: 172.16.0.0/26, address space: 172.16.0.0--172.16.0.63

          Subnet 2: 172.16.0.192/26, address space: 172.16.0.192 - 172.16.0.255

          Subnet 3: 172.16.0.64/26, address space: 172.16.0.64 - 172.16.0.127

          After you fill in the information, click “OK” to create the subnet successfully.

          Notice:

          Subnet Naming Conventions:

          1.It can only contain the uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers and special character -, _, /.;

          2.It must begin with the letter;

          3.The length is between 1-65 characters.

          CIDR:CIDR: The CIDR block of the subnet is the subset of VPC’s CIDR block. If multiple subnets are created in your private network, the CIDR block of subnets can not be overlapped. The allowed block size is between the /16 network mask and /28 network mask.

          RAID Parameter Description

          Redundant Array of Independent Disks (RAID) is referred to as the disk array. It is mainly used to combine multiple disks with relatively low price into a disk group with huge capacity to improve the fault tolerance and read/write performance. For the server, the disk array looks like a separate disk or logical storage unit.

          Compare with several common RAID types:

          • RAID5: RAID5 ensures the data security through the parity check, and takes the storage performance, data security and storage cost into account. Available space = Number of disks N-1. RAID5 is more suitable for the more read/less write scenarios, and it is the best solution for the consideration of performance, data redundancy and cost.
          • RAID1: It creates the disk image through the secondary read/write operation. The disk usage rate can be only up to 50%, but its reliability is the highest. It is recommended that you use the first two disks as RAID1 to install the operating system.
          • RAID0: More than 2 disks are required to implement RAID0 at least. It combines with more than two disks as a whole, and the data is continuously divided on each disk. For the bandwidth is doubled, the read/write speed is doubled. However, RAID0 can not perform the data redundancy protection function, and can not be used for the scenarios requiring highly reliable data.
          • RAID10: RAID10 integrates with the RAID0 data striping and the RAID1 image redundancy, which provides the high- speed read/write, while ensuring the high fault tolerance of data. The storage space usage rate of RAID10 is 50%, which is commonly used in the practical application.

          The following configuration schemes are recommended for the purchase of Baidu AI Cloud compute optimized BBC:
